Chapter #26: The monster in him.

Dumbledore and the rest were silent at the revelation that the old wizard had told them. Harry, the disowned Potter son, was the one who found the notebook with all the information, and yet, his willpower was truly remarkable, as the book had a strong pull towards anyone who craved power, but he didn't fall for it.

“But how… Is he really such a big threat? I find it hard to believe that he is strong considering how bad his grades are…” Lily couldn’t help but say with a confused expression.

All of the people in the room agreed, ever since Harry Potter joined Hogwarts, they’ve been watching all over his behavior, monitoring his grades to learn about him in case he becomes a threat, but all of them came to the same conclusion: he was closer to a squib than being a threat.

All of them were placing school grades in a very high regard; none of them were taking into account that good grades required memorization rather than magical power, which served Harry’s purposes, because while everyone thought of him as useless, his real power remained hidden.

“Despite our best efforts and the information from our spies, we don't have a clear image of what he truly is... That's why I think it’s time for him to come back home,” Dumbledore declared.

Soon, everyone looked at him with confused expressions.

“What do you mean, Albus?” James was surprised to hear those words.

Albus, realizing that his words were misunderstood, chuckled.

“I’m sorry, I know you’re thinking that I want you to reveal the truth and bring him back to your family, but no… What I mean is more like, we should invite him to join the order.” Dumbledore’s words were assuring but still worrying.

“Are you sure? Isn’t he a dark being? You yourself declared him a dark being after the attack on Godric’s Hollow,” Sirius was concerned but interested.

After he was disowned, Sirius was completely forbidden from visiting or trying to connect with Harry. Harry was his godson, and Sirius loved him; that's why it would've been easy for Harry to manipulate and control him so he could have his vengeance against the Potter family and the world. Still, Sirius was curious to meet the young man who had caught the attention of the order these past few weeks.

“Do you think that’s a good idea?” Asked James, not so sure.

“Yes… I’m a hundred percent convinced that’s a good idea, not only will we discover more of him if we get him involved in the order, but also… In case he’s a threat, I think we can find a way to control him if we take care of him, and he makes friends with the younger generation,” Dumbledore nodded.

He was disappointed that the parents forbade him from executing the boy the moment he was marked, but he was a man of honor, especially considering all the support the Potter family had given to the order by using the manor as their main headquarters and also providing the money needed for their difficult operations and for the bribes to get important information.

That’s why the least thing he could do was allowed Harry to live per their request because somehow, even though they knew their estranged son is a threat and that they themselves were scared of him, they still don’t want to abandon him, maybe it’s the guilt, or maybe it’s because of the myths that say that those who become kin slayers, their magic becomes rotten, regardless of their reason, that what they wanted and he was trying his best to do as he was told.

“I agree,” Lily spoke this time.

She gained curious looks from her husband and friends.

“I want to meet him, I want to see what he turned into, and if he’s still a threat then…” Lily sighed.

There was a tense silence.

“I myself will kill him… I brought him to this world; it is my duty to kill him if he’s truly a danger,” she said as she caressed the emerald gem she was wearing around her neck.

She still remembers how Harry used to love that gem so much that she decided to leave it to him the night of the attack. While she was thinking about those days, she was suddenly hugged by her husband; it was time to face their fears.

“Very well, oh by the way… Tomorrow’s the first match of the Quidditch season, Slytherin vs Gryffindor, you’re welcome to come to see the match after all… Harry Dursley is going to be there, playing as a seeker,” the old headmaster said, and the marauders shared curious looks.

Now that was something most of them were interested in seeing. James hated to admit it, but he wanted to see if his disowned son inherited his ability to fly. He was disappointed that Henry got in trouble and wouldn't be able to participate in the first matches of the season, but at least they would be able to see what Harry was made of.

The next morning, Harry woke up motivated. He walked to the great hall and shared handshakes with his teammates. It was time for him to show the world what he was made of, especially considering today an scout from a professional quidditch team is coming to see him thanks to Rita who knew about that scout having an affair and to keep that secret, she made him come and watch game, she’s also going to be there to write an article about the first derby of the season.

“Good luck, Harry,” Hermione told him with a smile.

“Yes, good luck, Harry,” Luna said, surprisingly wearing a Gryffindor Jersey with his name.

He didn’t know how to feel about that. It seemed like their friendship was moving too fast, but he had zero complaints about it; the faster the better, except when it comes to sex, of course.

“Thank you, girls, I’ll try my best, I don’t know why, but I feel like today is going to be a very special day,” Harry winked at them.

They were a bit confused, but they smiled in the end. He finished his breakfast, and while most of his teammates were a nervous trainwreck, he was in control of his emotions. After all, he’s been through this for a long time, and he has faced worse things than a Quidditch match, so he’s ready for whatever he has to face.

Breakfast was over, and in Harry’s opinion, it tasted better than ever. After stuffing his stomach, he grabbed his old broomstick. It was important for him to use this old thing to prove that it doesn’t matter what you use as long as you know how to use it.

Ginny, the captain, guided them through the pitch and soon, everyone was in formation. Harry couldn’t help but smile at the sight in the stands; there were students from all the houses, but there was a big section with Gryffindor’s colors and another with Slytherin’s colors.

Harry decided to keep looking, and his eyes widened as he saw a section of the stands where the staff usually take seats. They were there today too, but Sirius, Remus, and his parents were there, too. Snape was looking at him with hatred as he used Henry, Ron, and Malfoy's cronies as his personal butlers; they were even wearing service robes as they served tea to all the staff.

But the most shocking thing was seeing his parents there. This was no casualty, as far as he knew from the memories of the original Harry, they rarely came to see the Quidditch matches, and this visit was even weirder because their son wasn’t participating, well, not their good son.

It’s clear they came for a reason, but Harry didn’t have too much time to think about that. He decided to focus as soon as he saw Madam Hooch. It was time to focus on the game; he’ll think about the rest later.
