Chapter #12: Honesty.

It’s been a rough couple of days for Bellatrix Black. Today, she was coming back from work, completely tired, yet it was all worth it because she was starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel in the case of the recent werewolf murders. In the end, her fake husband, Harry Potter, was right in his approach.

She wishes he had told her beforehand. Even though she encourages her investigators to work independently, she also needs to know that they're not wasting their time. At the end of the day, she's not mad with Harry because his work with the map has helped them a lot. Thanks to that, now they have a list of suspects; there are ten wizards and three witches born and raised in Wiltshire, who are their potential suspects.

It’s going to be difficult, but at least they have a lead, so now they’re investigating and following all the suspects, a really difficult task that’s going to take some time before they see a result; however, at least they have something. To make things worse, Bellatrix knows some of the suspects.

“Why is this place so dark?” Bellatrix asked as she arrived at the place she shared with Harry.

She turned the lights on. Harry had taught her how to do it; a Lumos would’ve been quicker and better than Muggle electricity, and yet, her husband still wanted to do things the Muggle way. Well, he spent a good chunk of his life in the Muggle world, so it made sense for him to act like that.

“Where is my husband?” She asked with a confused expression.

She looked around, and when she got into the kitchen, she saw a note on the table.

“I left you some leftovers, just heat them and enjoy the pasta. I have a personal meeting with Amelia Bones,” he wrote in the note.

The curly-haired witch didn’t know how to feel about that. Her husband went to meet his ex-girlfriend, or at least she thought that Amelia was his ex; she had no evidence, but she knew that something had happened between those two.

“Why am I even reacting like that?” Bellatrix said indignantly. “No… I’m a busy woman, I have to focus on my job… I need to find that killer!” She said with an uncertain tone.

It was like she was trying to convince herself. Still, she grabbed a file from her bag and started to double-check to see if she had missed something. For the next hour, Bellatrix tried her hardest to think about the case. It was a reality that she needed to solve this case if she didn’t want to be sacked.

However, she couldn’t stop thinking about Harry and Amelia having fun. She knew she had no right to complain, after all, she had made quite clear what her intentions were when it came to their marriage, and Harry respected them; he had the right to search for his happiness whenever he wanted.

Still, there was something that bothered her about this whole situation; she knew it wasn’t jealousy, she was more than convinced that she could never get jealous, least of all for such a younger man; it was more like her favorite toy was being taken from her, and it bothered her even though she hadn’t played with it for a long time.

“Well, if that’s what he wants, to be away from me, well, he'd better—” She couldn’t continue as she saw lights outside the place she shared with the Potter heir.

The place was completely enchanted, and of course, only Harry and Bellatrix, and those they trusted could apparate, which only meant one thing: Harry was back, and she couldn’t stop herself from running to see Harry and Amelia looking at each other with happy expressions from the peephole.

Then they shared a kiss; however, Bellatrix wasn’t sure if the kiss was on the lips or any other part of her face as he was covering her face with his body. Harry smirked before he finally said goodbye to the older redhead.

Bellatrix was so annoyed with the presence of her former best friend, Amelia Bones, standing outside their home. Bellatrix wasn’t sure if the older redhead had noticed that she was spying on them, but she was glad that she was finally gone.

Then, the door was opened by Harry, who was surprised to find her standing there.

“Bella, I’m—” Harry couldn’t finish as he suddenly saw his fake wife waiting for him right after entering the house. “Oh, hey,” he said with a calm tone.

Bellatrix didn’t say anything as Harry closed the door.

“How was your day?” Harry asked with a calm expression.

“Fine,” the older witch answered dryly.

Harry noticed her attitude and decided not to speak much. The rest of the night was completely awkward for Harry; he wasn’t expecting Bellatrix to treat him like a real husband, but he was at least expecting them to talk about what was troubling her.

During moments like this, he wished Sirius and the others had managed to create that mind-reading potion so he could know what the other person wanted and solve his problems. Of course, his life could never be easy, so he had to deal with this person-to-person.

After they finished taking a bath separately, while Bellatrix was drying her hair, she was completely naked in the bathroom, Harry finally decided that it was time to have a chat with his wife.

“Bellatrix,” Harry’s tone made the older witch look at the source of that voice.

Her expression softened a little.

“Harry…” Bellatrix tried to look as if she had nothing to say.

Harry remained silent for a few moments, but he couldn’t take it anymore.

“What is your problem?” Harry asked with a raised brow.

Bellatrix was having a hard time believing what she had just heard. She looked at the dark-haired wizard and tried not to look shocked.

“What do you mean?” Asked the curly-haired witch with fake confusion.

“This whole night you’ve been acting very strange, more than the usual. What’s wrong, Bella?” Harry asked with a concerned tone.

Bellatrix hated it when he acted like that because she now couldn’t hold anything against him.

“I don’t know what you’re—” She was stopped by Harry.

“Please, Bella… Let’s stop playing around. You’ve been acting weird lately. At the office, you have become quite a scary force. Don’t misunderstand me, I love the fierce woman that you are, that even causes criminals to be afraid of you, but this is getting ridiculous, and now… You’re acting very strangely tonight. What’s wrong?” He asked with complete concern.

Bellatrix didn’t know how to feel about this situation.

“Fine… Do you want me to tell you how I feel? I feel frustrated about not being able to catch that bastard. How the ICW would make things harder for us if we don't work harder, and also… The fact that we haven’t been able to progress on our personal quest is driving me insane,” she said with a sad expression.

Harry was surprised by how expressive she was right now. This is what he wanted, for her to be honest, after all, he learned that this is very important for a good marriage, he learned that from the best married couple he knows, his parents.

“Would you like to work on that right now?” He asked a bit embarrassed.

Bellatrix looked at him with a serious expression. Now, Harry was fearing she would snap; however, Bellatrix couldn’t blame him for suggesting that; he was young, so the mere thought of sex was enough for him to go insane.

“Yes… I’d like that very much… I want you to finally impregnate me, Harry,” she almost begged.

Harry somehow felt like this situation was really wholesome.
