Chapter #22: A dangerous game.

Draco couldn’t believe it. He was willing to do anything to protect the secret he was carrying; however, his mother decided to tell Potter and Tonks everything.

“Mother, what are you doing!?” Draco complained.

“I’m sorry, Draco… I didn’t tell you because I know how well you admired your father and how you still believed he was being prosecuted,” Narcissa said on the verge of tears. “But he used you against me to help him with this mess he created,” she added.

Draco was stunned; he didn’t know what to do or say. Still, he found it hard to believe that his father would do something like that to his mother; his father loved her, and there was no way he would do something like that.

“He told me that if we didn’t help him, he was going to magically disinherit you; he can’t go to the bank, but he can do magically kick anyone from the family anywhere in the world!” She said, feeling completely disappointed in herself for helping him.

“No, there’s no way, my father—” Draco was suddenly slapped by Tonks.

“Wake up, you idiot… Your father is dangerous, and he's willing to do anything to fulfill his goals; he doesn't care about anything but himself, he would even discard his family as long as he saved himself; he has nothing to lose!” Tonks said angrily to her cousin.

There was silence, and then Harry decided to start to laugh, which caused everyone to look at him with confused expressions.

“Oh, I’m sorry… It’s just that I remembered when you told me that I was a coward for trying to run away from my responsibility just after Bellatrix ended up in a coma,” Harry said with an amused expression. “It’s funny how life works sometimes,” he added.

Then Harry moved closer to the pair.

“Listen to me, Malfoy… You’re acting like a true coward right now. Your father is out there committing very horrible crimes, and you still believe he’s innocent? I guess I overestimated your intelligence back then. I thought I was dealing with someone even more mature than I was, but it seems like you don’t even care about bringing justice to your aunt, who lost her memory because of your father's actions,” Harry told him in a plain tone.

“Think about what we said, cousin,” Tonks told the blonde. “Aunt Cissa, we need all the information you have about your husband’s whereabouts,” Tonks almost begged the blonde woman.

Soon she was let free, the metamorph trusted her, and it seems like just Tonks and Harry, she wanted to stop her husband, so, she told them everything she knew about his location, she even swore on her magic which confirmed that she was telling the truth, after getting that information, Harry and Tonks nodded and decided to leave Narcissa and Draco to deal with their emotional trauma, together.

Harry and Tonks soon apparated to a place neither of them had visited before, but that they had heard of, and somehow, putting aside the fact that they arrived at a cemetery, in general, the town felt eerie for Harry; it was like the place wanted to see him dead.

“Little Hangleton… This place is kind of creepy, don’t you think?” Harry asked Tonks with a calm expression.

“Well, I guess it makes sense, we’re on our way to an abandoned manor... The Riddle Manor, the locals say it’s haunted, but the most interesting thing is that this town is the place where Salazar Slytherin’s bloodline ended,” Tonks explained to him.

“Really?” He asked with a serious tone.

Both of them were wary of their surroundings, and they were prepared for any surprise attack.

“Yeah, there was a dragonpox epidemic that killed the last members, a father, his son, and his daughter… All that information was in the book "The Rise and Fall of Magical Families," and since then, there hasn’t been any parselmouth in the country,” she added, acting just as wary as he was.

“I don’t know how to feel about Slytherin, even if it wasn’t his intention, he created a cancer at Hogwarts with his house,” Harry sighed. “Where did you say we’re going?” Asked Harry as he stood in front of a tombstone that had the figure of a grim reaper.

“We’re going to Riddle Manor and… Oh, this tomb belongs to Tom Riddle. Apparently, he lived a long life. I guess we’re going to visit his manor. Please don’t hate us,” Tonks winked at the tomb, and then they nodded and decided to get out of the cemetery.

They asked the locals for the location of the manor; it took them longer than they had expected, but they eventually managed to find the place.

“You two are a very young couple; you should be wary. There have been reports of people seeing mysterious figures at night in that manor, and some even said they heard voices, although the veracity of their claims can be argued because the witnesses were drunk. Still, don't forget to be careful,” an old woman warned them.

However, Harry and Tonks knew what they were doing when they decided to come here.

“Shall we get inside?” He asked Tonks, and she nodded furiously.

Soon, they got inside the manor, and everything was dark; however, they didn’t want to use magic to cast a light spell because they were worried about alerting the people who saved Lucius. It was difficult to navigate in the darkness; however, suddenly something terrible happened as the room was lit up out of nowhere.

And not only did they find Lucius Malfoy there, but he wasn’t alone; at least two hundred wizards and witches were pointing their wands at him and Tonks.

“Well, well, look who decided to come here to die on their own,” Lucius said with a smirk. “Potter and Andromeda’s mistake,” he said in a taunting tone.

“Drop the wands,” ordered one of them.

“Tonks… Get out,” Harry whispered in her ear.

“But Harry—” She wanted to stop him.

“You can use your powers and escape, just make yourself so tiny that they won't be able to get you,” Harry told her, and then dropped his wand.

“Very well, Potter. It's your turn now, Nymphadora… Quickly!” Ordered Lucius with an angry expression.

Tonks decided to do as she was told, or so they believed, because soon, she started to reduce her size, and luckily, there was a hole in the floor, which was small enough for her to go downstairs.

“Shit… Get her!” Lucius ordered.

However, it was too late; she was gone.

“Shit, now we have to rush our plans,” Lucius whispered something to a random masked person.

Soon, that person restrained Harry in a chair, and Harry expected to be killed. However, instead, that person only took one of his hairs and decided to leave the place. Harry was confused by their actions; they didn't explain what they were doing. However, his eyes widened once he realized what they were planning to do with his hair.

And just when he was about to announce what he knew, the person who took his hair came back, and that person looked like him because, as he suspected, they used polyjuice potion, and it seems like he brought someone who shouldn't be here; it was Bellatrix, and she was completely unconscious.

“It was a mistake to let Nymphadora go, but by the time she arrives with help, you and Bellatrix are going to lie dead alongside the monster she’s carrying!” Lucius said with a vicious smile.

He didn’t care about anything else; Lucius only cared about making those he hates to suffer, and Harry couldn’t help but feel hopeless right now.

“I’m sorry, Bella,” he said in a low tone.

Bellatrix, on the other hand, kept her eyes closed; he was hoping that their deaths at least would be quick.
