Chapter #20: Red alert.

Harry couldn’t believe he was kissing Daphne Greengrass, one of the most beautiful witches of his generation. Although now that he was older than she was, it made things different, but it wasn't unpleasant for him; he knew that she was enjoying this too. However, their make-out session was interrupted when they started to hear sirens, which meant that there was danger nearby.

“Fuck,” Harry said with a worried tone.

“Harry, what’s going on?” The blonde asked with a concerned tone.

“I don’t know; there’s an aerial threat on the city. It could be anything, a magical creature like a hippogriff, and in the worst-case scenario, a dragon,” he sighed and got his wand ready.

“Harry, let me come with you,” she practically begged.

Harry didn’t want to accept; however, seeing her so determined made him sigh. He just hoped Cyrus wouldn’t kill him.

“Ok, but tell your parents where you’re going,” he ordered, and soon she left a message for her family; after that they got back to the city.

His friends were in their sleeping robes, and they were surprised to see Harry arriving with Daphne Greengrass, which earned him a few interesting looks; however, that wasn’t the point; there were other things to worry about.

“Good night, everyone, what’s the report? Are there victims?” Asked Harry with a worried tone.

“No victims confirmed; the object was detected flying at a great speed a few miles from here, and according to our predictions it comes in the direction of the city,” Luna spoke this time.

It was incredible how quickly they managed to adapt to this new magical technological era.

“The object is traveling at more than three hundred miles per hour,” Cho said with a concerned tone.

“What’s the plausible explanation?” Harry was trying to think of the right creature.

As far as he knew, there were no magical creatures fast and big enough to do that; there was something very wrong about this situation. The thought of a new creature undiscovered was very fearful, but most of all, the thought of other humans awakening and now attacking them was a scarier thought.

“It could be a broom.” Neville’s words surprised everyone.

But then Harry realized that he was right; when he chased after snitches, he had to do it at an incredible speed. He never calculated the speeds that he reached, but achieving the number they saw on the data on a broom seemed reasonable.

“If you’re right, Neville, then… I think I know who’s coming at us,” Harry gritted his teeth.

Neville understood too.

“Ron…” Said the Longbottom heir.

Meanwhile, flying at an incredible speed with the silenced family he brought from his old kingdom, Ron was having the time of his life. He managed to escape his prison, and his plan for vengeance was about to start; he just needed time, but he knew he would eventually have his revenge against Hermione and the others who dared to betray him.

Then his eyes widened as he got close to a giant source of light; this was a city, and he couldn’t believe how good it looked. It was like the petrification never took place. Ron was shocked to say the least, but he was getting tired, so he started to lower the broom, and then out of nowhere something attacked the broom.

“What the…” He said as the back of the broom was now on fire. “Shit!” He said, completely worried.

Now he had no way of escaping now that the broom was damaged, and to make things worse, they were soon joined by four broom riders who surrounded them and pointed their wands at Ron.

Harry had a serious expression; he was waiting for news about the person who decided to have fun with a broom to scare a whole population. He'd have to tell a lie to the population to calm them down, and then he received a call from the broom riders.

“Yes?” Harry asked calmly.

“I think it’s him, sir; we have a red-haired male no older than eighteen," said one of the broom riders.

Harry groaned; it was him.

“Bring him here, and try to be as discreet as possible; we don’t want the population to get worried,” Harry sighed.

“Was that Ron, Harry?” Asked Susan with a raised brow.

“Yes… It's him,” Harry confirmed.

Meanwhile, Daphne was surprised by how efficient the team was; they didn’t lose their composure at any moment, even in such a time of crisis, and she couldn’t help but feel interested in their work. Maybe she should join them too. Two minutes after he was caught, Ron was brought to Harry; the redhead started to sob as soon as he saw his best friend.

“Harry… I’m glad to be back!” Ron said on the verge of tears.

Harry wasn’t happy to see the redhead; however, there was someone else missing.

“Ron… Where’s Hermione? Don’t tell me that you’ve killed her,” Harry’s tone was dangerous, but Ron quickly shook his head.

“No… She actually tried to kill me; she’s gone insane, Harry… The power has completely corrupted her… I swear that’s the truth!” He declared with fake worry.

Harry was having a hard time believing that’s what happened; however, he needed more answers.

“Why did you two leave, Ron?” Asked Harry with a sad tone.

There was silence; it seemed like Ron wanted to make his explanations more dramatic.

“Because Hermione said that you were a danger to us. She told me that she was scared of you because you started your civilization as soon as you had the chance so you could conquer the world. I thought that what she said didn’t make any sense, however… She threatened me, Harry… She told me that if I didn’t come along with her, she was going to kill me,” Ron said with fake tears in his eyes.

It was hard for Harry to think that Ron was telling the truth; after all, he has proven not to be trustworthy. It’s a shame they don’t have any dose of Veritaserum because it’s going to take at least six more months to be brewed, and his legilimency and occlumency skills suck too, so he either dismisses what Ron says or believes and acts.

“I tried to create a civilization for people who don’t want to take life seriously, and it drove her mad that people loved me more than her, right, guys?” He said to his companions.

They were still silenced, but Harry broke the silencing charm, and they nodded and agreed with Ron.

“That’s why she and her lover decided to betray me and stab me in the back, and now they took over my city,” he said now in real tears.

Losing his city really affected him.

“Her lover?” Harry asked, surprised.

It was very out of character for Hermione to cheat on Ron, especially considering that she didn’t believe herself to be worthy of being with him.

“Yes… Her lover, Severus Snape.” Ron’s words were confusing.

“Professor Snape? Wasn’t he dead?” Harry asked with a frustrated tone.

“The poison was set to kill him slowly; he was doomed to suffer for at least twenty-four hours, but eventually the poison disappeared while he was petrified. Hermione thought it would be a good idea to take him with us, to help us build the civilization. However, she and he were always disappearing; now it makes sense why she always defended him; she loves him!” Ron assured him.

The situation was becoming weirder and weirder for Harry.
