Chapter #2: The traitor that wasn't.
Somewhere in the universe, the spirit of Voldemort was roaming freely…
Voldemort couldn’t believe it; his body had been killed once again, but not by his enemies, not by Harry Potter. He was killed by aliens, those creatures with big black eyes and grey skin; even though they resembled him, there was nothing to compare them with aside from that.
They were colder than him; at least he wanted to have fun, become immortal, and destroy everyone who dared to oppose him. Those things, they had nothing like that; they just acted as if nothing else mattered to them. They did countless experiments on his body.
They were fascinated by the magic, and they were interested to see how a human was able to produce so much energy while consuming so little; that was an impressive achievement as a species, or so they said because that’s the dream for any civilization, finding a way to generate infinite energy while wasting so little.
The only comparison they could find in the universe was the fact that intelligent beings with brains all over the universe were able to use that organ and do many things with such a low cost of energy, and so, in the quest for finding how magic worked, something that not even wizards and witches have figured out, they ended up killing him.
It was disappointing and pathetic, Voldemort was the first one to admit that this way to lose his body was pathetic and to make things worse, because they took him somewhere else away from earth, he was now roaming as a spirit in the universe, at his current speed he’s going to reach earth once the sun explodes if he’s lucky and when that happens his horcruxes will probably be destroyed by the blast.
Now he’s in the emptiness of space; he can see stars and some planets, but he knows he’s not on Earth. Voldemort hated to admit it, but he was scared to roam in the universe without direction; that was a fear he never considered when he made the horcruxes.
He couldn’t even feel them, and as a ghost he was barely faster than a snail. He was now regretting all his decisions; that’s why he suddenly started to cry, a sight no one would ever see as he was lost in space.
Meanwhile, Snape was outside the Weasley home with wands pointed at him. He knew that this was the night in which they moved Potter because he officially became an adult; Voldemort and the Death Eaters were supposed to be there to wreak havoc; however, the dark lord lost his body once again, and no one could feel the mark anymore.
“Well, well, look what do we have here? A traitor!” The one who spoke was Lupin.
“I’ll kill him!” Harry declared, but he was stopped by Hermione.
“Listen, I know how this looks… I know that I look like the worst thing that has ever lived after the recent events, but trust me… All the things I did... Everything was part of Dumbledore’s plans,” Snape said with a serious tone.
Everyone started to laugh; they didn’t believe him.
“Look… I know it’s hard to believe, but Voldemort lost his body once again,” Snape said in a serious tone.
There was confusion.
“Yeah, it’s in the Daily Prophet. I don't know if you saw the article about the mysterious wizard body that was found in a terrible state. It turns out that it belonged to him. It was published because if no one reclaims the body, the Muggles are going to take it, I know it’s him because I know how that happened,” Snape said desperately.
“What? The body in the Daily Prophet?” Hermione asked, surprised.
She read the article; she was grossed out, but she couldn’t recognize it because key parts of the face were removed, and because it’s hard to believe that Voldemort could be killed like that, the idea never crossed her mind. Soon, she grabbed the diary and showed it to everyone.
“I know it’s hard to believe any of the things I've said. Dumbledore’s death and my betrayal- I'm sorry for all that, but I can assure you it was all done by Dumbledore’s orders. You can use veritaserum if you want to, or even put me under a magical vow to reveal the truth… I will do it and prove that I’m telling the truth,” Snape said desperately.
Harry was looking at the older wizard with hatred; the older members looked at each other and then nodded.
“Very well, Severus, we’re going to allow you to show your innocence,” Arthur said, and Harry gritted his teeth after hearing that.
Once he was in the living room, Snape grabbed his wand.
“I swear under my magic and my life that if I were to lie to the questions asked by Remus Lupin… My life will be taken,” he swore, and then his body started to glow.
He was asked many questions about the betrayal and the reasons why he killed Dumbledore.
“And so… The curse was about to kill him; he had a couple of days left at most, and as the last act of mercy, he asked me to kill him, not only to end the pain but also because killing him would prove to the dark lord and his followers that I was back on the Death Eater side,” he answered.
Everyone waited for him to die, but that didn’t happen. Snape had a serious but determined expression; he was sure about what he did and why he did it.
“Well, it seems like magic has spoken,” Remus said with a serious tone.
“Remus, before you break the spell, please ask him what happened to Voldemort,” Harry suggested, and Remus nodded.
The werewolf asked the question, and Snape sighed.
“This is going to be hard to believe, but he was abducted by aliens,” he answered, and once again, just like in the previous question, nothing happened.
He was telling the truth, and so, after hearing that, they needed further explanations, so Remus decided to break the vow.
“Severus, what do you mean, aliens?” Asked Molly, confused.
“Yeah… Aliens, like beings from another planet?” Harry was confused.
“Yes… That’s why I came here, because that’s the real threat we're going to face now; those creatures can capture us with ease… They’re the real danger now,” Snape couldn’t help but gulp.
He then explained how the abduction of the dark lord happened, and to say the people in the room were shocked would be a complete understatement.
“No… It can’t be; that looks like something taken out of a movie,” Hermione couldn’t believe it.
“Trust me, I was completely shocked, but that’s how it happened. If you analyze the things they removed, it coincides with the cattle corpses found that the aliens supposedly abducted,” Snape explained.
“What can we do? Are we doomed?” Ron questioned with a panicked expression.
“For now, we can only stay inside and not go out during the night; however, the possibility of being taken in the middle of the day is real too, so let’s not get overconfident, we need more information about those things and I know where we can get some,” Snape explained.
“Really? Where?” Asked Harry, surprised.
“At your grandfather John’s house,” he told Harry. “Your mother’s father was obsessed with those things. I think he saw some disturbing things during his time in the Air Force,” Snape declared, and Harry nodded.
The countdown had started; they didn’t know if Muggles were being abducted too or if only wizards were the target, but they needed to be prepared.
