Chapter #3: John Evans.

John Evans was a man from the south of England. He served in the British Air Force during World War II; he was a loving father, especially to his favorite daughter, Lily, and there was a deep reason behind that. During his time in the Air Force, John saw and experienced a lot of supernatural things.

He saw what the French used to call back then “Foo fighters”. Those were disc-shaped objects that seemed to have no propulsion system and that followed many of his comrades during missions. It was chilling to be in his position at first because if those things belonged to the enemy, then the war was pointless, as they could use those objects to easily defeat the allies.

However, that didn’t happen, but the incidents never stopped, not even after the war. Also, there was one incident in which John was surrounded by a couple of those objects. Physically, he was fine; there was just one problem: it seemed like he lost time in the blink of an eye. He lost two hours, and when he reported the incident to his superiors, the explanation they came up with was that he probably reached a point in which the radars couldn’t track him.

However, the fact that he almost had the same amount of fuel that he had when he got inside the plane two hours before was what made things very weird. In the end, the incident was classified, and because John didn’t want to ruin his career, he kept the whole incident silent.

The incidents became less regular after the war; however, after the war, he was assigned to work in the British nuclear program. Back then, it was common to experience weird phenomena; it was like the beings that had that technology were trying to monitor what humans did with such power, and well, after seeing what the two bombs did to Japan, it made sense for them to be worried.

John always believed that there was more behind the nature of those vehicles; he felt like humanity was in danger as long as they didn’t acknowledge that something was happening in the sky, and so he became obsessed and collected evidence in his spare time.

He thought that the fact that his daughter had magic was proof that there was more behind what’s obvious because if magic was real, then the idea of beings from another world wasn't too far-fetched. Sadly, John and his wife, Daisy Evans, were killed by Death Eaters, and so all the information they could’ve gotten directly from him was gone.

“How do you know all that?” Asked Harry with a serious expression.

They were walking on the outskirts of a modern village in the south of England. It was past the twilight hour, and the muggle world still kept going; it seemed like there was nothing out of the ordinary happening to them. Snape didn’t want to answer Harry’s question; however, in the end he sighed, and he looked at the younger wizard with a shameful expression.

“I—I paid attention, I guess,” Snape said with a serious tone. “As you know, I was in love with your mother; I think I was in love with her ever since I was little, and so I wanted to impress your grandfather by showing interest in his stories… Back then, all that seemed nonsensical, though when I used my mind-reading powers, I could feel his fear,” Snape couldn’t help but sigh.

“I see…” Harry didn’t know how to feel about it.

However, on the other hand, Harry felt ashamed of himself; to know that his grandpa had such a cool life story and he never showed interest in it made him feel like shit.

“Well, here we are,” Snape said with a serious tone.

They had reached an abandoned building. The place looked like a farm, and there was a huge wheat crop field in the background. Harry was about to get inside as he wanted to get information from his family as soon as possible.

“Wait, Potter,” Snape stopped him.

Harry was confused but decided to listen to the older wizard. Snape was staring at the place as if he had lost something, and then he started to move his wand.

“Potter… I’m going to get close. If something happens, send a Patronus to the order.” Snape didn’t wait for Harry to say something.

He just walked straight to the farm, but when he was about to open it, it was like he lost interest and then decided to get away.

“Professor, where are you going?” Asked Harry, surprised.

“Home. I suddenly lost interest in whatever thing I was doing…” The older wizard suddenly declared; his words took Harry aback.

The dark-haired wizard suddenly realized what was going on and then decided to cast a "Finite Incantatem" on Snape, and so, thanks to that, the older wizard came back to his senses.

“What the…? Potter, why do you have your wand pointed at me?” Snape asked with a raised brow.

Clearly, he was more amused than scared of what Harry was doing. The emerald-eyed wizard just rolled his eyes; it seemed like no matter what he did, the old wizard would never feel scared of him.

“You fell under the effects of a Confundus Charm; you suddenly lost interest in what we were doing once you reached the fence,” Harry said with an annoyed tone.

Snape suddenly raised a brow; he looked around the place, and then he looked back at Harry.

“Potter, try to enter. Don’t worry if you become confused; I’ll get you out of it. I won’t be as gentle as you were with me, though,” Snape said with a grin.

It was clear that the man was a Slytherin to the core. Harry just rolled his eyes. He decided not to say anything else and just do as he was told. He was ready to become confused; however, his eyes suddenly widened the moment he was able to enter without a problem.

“Just like I suspected, your mother placed blood barriers; only someone who shared her blood would be able to enter,” Snape’s words surprised Harry.

Of course his mother would do something like that.

“Don’t worry, we’ll break the barriers. I hate to undo your mother’s work, but we can’t afford to lose this information,” Snape sighed.

He then walked with his wand ready and soon launched an attack that revealed the place where the ritual drawings were placed. Harry was watching the scene with complete interest.

“Potter, put a drop of your blood on the ritual rings,” Snape told him with a serious tone.

Harry wanted answers; however, he decided not to lose time and do as he was told. Soon, he placed a bit of his blood on the thing, and soon the whole place was lit; it was covered with a white light. To say that the two of them were taken aback would be a complete understatement; it seems like Lily truly applied a powerful barrier, but in the end, because of Harry blood, the barrier was finally removed.

“Well, it seems like it finally happened; let’s not waste more time, Potter,” Snape said with a shocked expression.

Even after death, Lily was still surprising him. Had she survived the whole Voldemort ordeal, she would’ve become a very powerful witch indeed. Harry didn’t say anything and soon followed the older wizard. Now he had many questions about his mother and this side of his family; however, he wasn’t going to ask Snape that. Even after revealing the truth, it was hard for him to trust Snape.
