Strumming is a part of playing that I hear a lot of people struggling with, we also get locked into this idea of "D DU UDU" but once you are able to count music and learn how that applies to your strumming, you will liberate yourself and really start to rock and roll!

How To Strum The Ukulele Better - How to Count Music - Ukulele Tutorial

New Ukulele Tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday, subscribe and learn! Today we are going to take your strumming up to the next level by teaching you how to count music and how that applies to your Ukulele strumming. We will walk you through examples in 4/4 at 1/4 notes, 1/8 notes and 1/16th notes so you will learn how to count them all and how to turn those counts into strumming. The ultimate goal with your strumming is to be able to feel the groove and produce something that comes from a feeling, but it really starts with a basic understanding of how to count time and rock out with drums beats. Patreons will not only have a PDF to help with this strumming tutorial but they will have backing drumming tracks to help them learn, if you want to take your strumming to the next level become a Patreon here! https://www.patreon.com/TenThumbsPro https://www.patreon.com/TenThumbsPro https://www.instagram.com/tenthumbspro/ https://www.patreon.com/TenThumbsPro https://www.facebook.com/tenthumbspro... Tyler, this one was a light bulb moment for me. I hadn't really thought of the strumming as percussion. I was too busy trying to get my head around the up or down strum. It's the beat from a song that really sticks in your head just as much as the chords. I've found myself listen to and thinking about songs in a whole different way. I don't know if that even makes sense but you did change how I understand strum patterns. The 16th timing made more sense of things for me. I think I'll be watching this one over and over.
