We have tutorials for all that, now that you are there, it is time to master the scales. To do that you use these comprehensive exercises. If you only practice the scale up and down it will make it very hard for you play it fluidly and out of order when you are composing melody or improvising. Here are nine exercises that you can use as a warm up for your playing that will help you skip notes, skip strings, play the scale with triplets, mix swing time and straight time, play with 16th notes, all these ideas will make it so you can really own the scale and use it to improvise masterful melodies that don't sound like just playing a scale. The pentatonic is the best place to start because it has 5 notes that sound great in most scenarios, It is really hard to make a mistake using this scale, it also transitions to the other scales easily. For example when you play the minor or major scale you simply add notes. The major pentatonic scale has 5 of the 7 notes in the major scale, so when you are ready to take the next step you simply learn where to add notes, making the pentatonic the ultimate scale to learn first. Not to mention it sounds amazing by itself and when you learn your favorite solos you'll see over 90% of notes are from the pentatonic scale. Master Scales on the Ukulele - Round 2
