Up to this point we have only been playing with 1/8th notes and 1/4 notes, which is a great way to learn all of these foundational concepts because things move a little bit slower, but we need to be able to divide the timing of our songs even more, and the next in line is the 16th notes. Today we are going to talk about how to harmonize it, how to play it and how to count it. The style can feel a little bit overwhelming at first because it is so rapid fire, so you really want to lean on the concepts we did in day 6 on how to practice. If you break your 16th note runs down into a quarter of a measure they will become much more manageable.

Another thing that is important thing is thing is counting all these ideas out loud. You benefit so much more when you verbalize them. It's really like pulling teeth sometimes to get people to say this stuff out loud, they just want to say it in their head but it doesn't work the same, you have to speak it. When you verbalize these ideas it speaks them into existence basically. By saying them you learn them so much quicker. Also, when you slow things way down, as you tap your foot, tap it to the 8th notes, not the 1/4 notes, that also helps.

Hey on the last page at the top. ‘The whole thing counted out .......’. The end of the 2nd measure should 4 e. Instead of 4 &? Or should I count 4 &. Also I clapped out the rhythm like you suggested. BIG help ❤️
