Christmas is right around the corner and it is time to break out the old classics and start teaching some songs for your family gatherings. If you are wondering why we are starting so late it is because Tenthumbs has been around teaching Ukulele Tutorials since 2014, and this being 2020, we already have six years of Christmas Tutorials for you to check out, here is a link to the playlist.   

We are kicking off the season this year with a chord melody, also known as fingerstyle, version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas as sung by the great Judy Garland. This song is a ton of fun to play and has a beautiful melody to back it up. We will teach you all the chord shapes but if you feel comfortable reading tabs, and you are comfortable with chord shapes in general, you can skip this part, as it is 5 whole minutes of chord shapes!! If that is something that you feel like you need a little extra help with than I encourage you to watch it as this song as it has a massive amount of chord shapes and learning them and internalizing them will not only help you with this chord melody, but it will also help you with future chord melodies.

I tried this one last year and it was sooooo hard! It's still hard this year, especially that pinky pull and that 6457 chord. But because of our lessons I know it's possible. My fingers will get there. I'm not there yet but the beautiful melody leads me on and I can do so much more with it than last year. Thank you Tyler. Happy Holidays.
