Last week we learned how to transpose chord progressions, today it is time to learn how to transpose melody. We might use this tool to bring a melody into our vocal range, play a chord melody in an easier key, for example is a nightmare with E and 4 barre chords but F only has a Bb for its hardest chord, or maybe to help us fit a solo on the fretboard. This tutorial will walk you through the whole thing step by step and you'll be really expanding your knowledge of music, scales, and melody in no time.

Ukulele Music Theory Tutorial - How to Transpose Melody

New Ukulele Tutorials every Wednesday and Saturday The other day we learned how to transpose our chords, today we will learn how to transpose melody! It is a similar process but also equally important. We will walk you through identifying intervals and using the intervals to move a melody into a different key. That way if the song is hard for you to sing in a certain key you can move it, but this is also very beneficial for chord melody as certain keys are much easier than others. For example the key of E is a nightmare, but moving it into F makes it much easier, this tutorial will show you exactly how to do that. What was that uke from the intro? Was it a Risa? Anyway, have you ever heard of "The Chord Wheel"? I've had mine for well over a decade. It is a really beefed-up circle of fifths with transpositions of all chords and notes in all keys. It makes transpositions thoughtlessly simple. Of course, over time I have stopped using mine because I used it so much that I learned it.
