It is time to learn the classic solo and unleash the new solid body electric ukulele on the world. Today we are going to learn how to play the solo to Let It Be, the radio edit version of the song. This 8 bar solo by George Harrison has some amazing phrasing and starts off very melodic, harmonic, and intentional, with certain melodic motifs repeated throughout the entire 8 bar, but also has some screaming bends up high on the fretboard, pushing the 2nd to the major 3rd way up on the 17th fret of the Ukulele!!!

As always we will break the entire solo down note for note, phrase for phrase, section for section so you can learn how to play it and rock it out, then at the end we will play through the entire solo together. If you really want to master the timing though make sure you play along with the actual solo on the recording, and do you best to play along with George, this is meant to build the muscle memory and familiarity that you need with the solo to do so.

George Harrison was an amazing guitar player, so this is also like a George Harrison Ukulele Tutorial and a deep dive into his style. This is all in the A minor Pentatonic scale, so the more you know about the scale the easier this will be to play. It is also good to understand techniques of this playing, slides, hammer ons, pull offs, etc, so these links will all help you with this solo.

This is crazy good timing. Maybe around 15 years ago someone mixed The Beatles Let it be with Shaggy wasn't me, and recently I've decided that I would try to learn that version of let it be next. You have a great strumming and finger picking version of let it be to get me started, but I really wanted the solo and tried to tab it out without much success. I'm very excited.

I'm so happy that this is here! Thanks for ALL the songs that you're tabbing out solos, harmonica intros (just catching up to learning your Love Me Do now!), and all the other extras that make these the RIGHT versions of these songs! Here's a request from a little bit of left field -- rather than note by note, can you also do some chord melody versions? I know that you're a guitar player and you love your shredding, but I'm not at ALL. LOL I'm not really interested in becoming George Harrison, but solos like the one in Let It Be are absolutely canonical. I've been singing along with this solo for over 50 years now (how is this possible??? But completely true), so I feel like the song isn't the song until I have the solo....but the combination of not being a guitar player, not being a shredder on uke, and playing unplugged, I'd kill to be able to play the MELODY of the solo the same way that I'm playing the melody of the verses, choruses, and walkdowns. Does that make sense? I'm trying to use your previous lessons on chord melody to build this myself, and not making much progress to be honest LOL hence my request to you to at least consider this for a future toot! Thanks as always man!
