Playing with a backing track is a great way for you to really take your playing to whole new heights. You can use it to practice both rhythm and lead, the two areas of playing. With rhythm in this lesson we will talk about how to practice different chord shapes, and how to rethink rhythm in general going past just strumming and fingerpicking to create a walking bass line that use chord shapes as stabs. After the rhythm learning we will jump into lead with exercises that practice scale shapes, timing, hammer ons, pull offs, slides, vibrato, bends, triplets and of course, the most important, phrasing. The idea is that you see how I use this particular backing track to practice and you apply the same ideas to your own playing and practice so you can improve and get better faster!

I really like the phrasing bit. How did you choose the chords progression of C, G, F & Em? Am I correct in that the notes you chose could also be used for the key of A?

Great lesson, Tyler! You covered so much and all the pieces are coming together for me. Seeing your demos with tabs is really useful. I like the way you introduce one thing at a time. I'll be upgrading my membership the start of Feb. Many thank :)

Actually the key of A is quite different from the key of C. Key of A is: A B C# D E F# G#, while key of C (if we start from A) would be A B C D E F G.
