Baritone Wednesday, we missed the first Wednesday this month because I didn't have a Baritone with me, but here we are today! If you have a standard tuned ukulele you can follow along and have fun, just know the solo is in the key of D instead of A
Make sure you download the backing track for your practice!
I tried something different with this one and in the tabs I broke down every phrase individually so you can practice them one at a time, develop the timing and feel, and there is also a theory break down of each lick, let me know if you dig it!
The reason we are going to call this a B.B. King influenced solo, even though I have only seen one video of B.B. playing acoustic guitar, is because of the phrasing, or the note choice. The solo has a foundation in A Blues, which is the A minor pentatonic scale with 1 extra note, the flat 5th. With that in mind over the D7 we do switch to double stops based on the chord, and then measures 7 and 8 both feature major ideas with a major 3rd being featured as well as a 9th and a 6th via the BB King Box. The turnaround also sticks very close to the chords as well. Enjoy!
