So Kelsea, let us know how you really feel about Evelyn..LOL. Love the movie and your reactions. Most of the comments have covered everything about the movie that I enjoyed and felt, but there is one thing that I find amazing, and that is how they portray the love of Ruth and Idgie. As others have stated, in the book there is no doubt that the woman are in love, physically as well as emotionally. And yes it was 1992 so things were different back then, but what is baffling to me is that showing the love of two woman in a movie was morally worse than showing cannibalism. Talk about having your moral compass pointed in the wrong direction. Am so glad that Terry recommended this movie. It’s been one that I had heard a lot about and always wanted to see, but never got around to it, so it was great to finally see it along with your great reactions. Take care Kelsea.

So true about the cannibalism being fine but the love between women being taboo!!! Absolutely wild!!! Their relationship was beyond sweet and I loved both their characters so so much. In the movie they imply that they never fully admitted to each other how they felt. Like Idgie saying to Ruth on her death bed "there's so much I want to say to you." I hope in the books they were much more honest and open with each other and allowed themselves to tell each other how they felt!! I think they both knew how they felt in the movie, but I still hope in the books they were able to voice it and act on it a bit more, even if it were only in private. The thought of Idgie never getting to say "I'm in love with you Ruth." is a very sad thought, even if again, I think Ruth knew and they said it in their own way. They were just too sweet for words and I loved their relationship so much! And ya.. Evelyn was a nightmare. 🤣
