And an awesome journey it has been! Half Life was such a great choice. I can't wait to watch this later, and I look forward to seeing what you choose to play next...whether it's from your classics not-yet-played list, or your games from childhood list.

OK, a correction. I had commented that hl2: eps 1 and 2 aren’t as well constructed as hl2 but that was wrong. Eps 1 sure, but I forgot how good eps 2 was. That final open world section defending the base is so epic, plus all the lore dumps, plus the drama and that cliffhanger ending… so so good. That being said fuck Valve for leaving us on that cliffhanger for 2 decades! 😂

Amber, thank you so much for the Half Life videos, i really enjoyed seeing your reactions to story and your combat skills. Especially how excited you are during the reveal of Borealis :) shows This is kinda spoilers, don't read before watching the episode: Eli heard Gman say "Prepare for unfoseen consequences" only once, at Black Mesa when Gman gave him the crystal that you pushed into the laser. That is how Eli knows that Gman talked to Alyx, and why he talks about mutual friend. I still don't quite understand how he knows Gordon met him, tho. Maybe that's part of what he wanted to talk about when you came back?

Sorry to hear about your tough times, but I’m glad that Half Life was able to offer you some solace. Episode 2 is probably my favourite part of HL2, because of the super cool set pieces and the lore that genuinely makes you perk up (Eli also knew the G-Man?! 🤯). Valve’s audacity to not follow up that ending is absolutely insane, how dare they 😂

The White Forest/Aperture vs Black Mesa had me nostalgic for TF2 with the Red vs Blu Lumberyard, so I went back and watched the "Meet the Team" videos. It's crazy that the Orange Box (HL2 + episodes + TF2 + Portal) was $49.99 on release.

All of Half Life was amazing!!! Thank you for letting me revisit my childhood and young adult years!

Especially considering upcoming Doom the Dark Ages alone is priced 1,5 times that 🙄

I remember StriderFest being a huge pain in the ass too, so not surprised to see it still inducing stress all these years later. There's something special these games have that others just don't - some combination of pacing, restraint, variety, humanity, and more - that makes them so appealing to want to see more of. I'm glad they could be an escape for you, while being a really fun watch for me (and everyone else)!

Well, now you know. Why HL3 is such a big deal, I mean. We've been on a cliffhanger for so long. 😭 Thank you for this amazing playthrough. It's been phenomenal to watch you play these games! Now you're one of us. 😁 Also, you did so well against those final waves of striders. I've several first time playthroughs, and none have done so well. I want to take a second for a shoutout to the incredible voice actors of these games. Sadly we've lost some of the older cast since release: RIP Robert Culp (Dr. Wallace Breen) 1930-2010 Robert Guillaume (Dr. Eli Vance) 1927-2017 John Aylward (Dr. Arne Magnusson) 1946-2022 Louis Gossett Jr. (Vortiguants in HL2, HL2:1) 1936-2024 Anthony Todd (Vortigaunts in HL2:2, HL:A) 1954-2024

Half Life Alyx time!
