Hey everyone. I wanted to make a post to say thank you. I was so nervous about making a Patreon back in the day, and now I can't imagine making videos without it.In total honesty I try to steer clear of the YouTube comment section nowadays! The comments can be really frustrating and so I try to avoid them just incase I run into a negative one. But to be able to have community interaction on videos here and read your tips and share the game that way has, in all honestly, I think saved the YouTube channel for me. I could not do this if I had such a negative or frustrating feedback loop as my only interaction with people. Its so easy to feel like people aren't enjoying the videos, so to hear and see the support here is really, really wonderful. I wanted to save this message for when I had something new and exciting to show but given the recent growth in support here I absolutely need to say a huge thank you now. I am working on something new, and although it may take ages to show anything, I want to say thank you for the support because it has inspired me to create content out of my comfort zone and just feel more creative and inspired again. Thank you everyone!Secondly I have two Subnautica videos coming to Patreon this weekend so stay tuned 😈 (If I can get them out of Davinci without it crashing on me).As for Star Wars, I want to play it. I may just binge it one weekend and upload the result of that as one finished playlist sometime in the next month for anyone to watch if interested. I don't want to interrupt Subnautica too much as I feel that's what people want to see right now, but it would mean that the game would be experienced COMPLETELY on my own, which could be a bit frustrating if I miss anything major ahaha.

As for Resident Evil 4 Remake, I have never played the original but was interested in looking at the remake! Buuut I am terrified to play any new releases on the channel again given how disastrous it felt last time ahaha.Thank you again and hopefully I will be back later today with a new video!

Seriously loving all your videos! Glad you are doing well! Ive never paid for a patreon before so you are my first ☺️ you have got me inspired to start subnautica again. So thanks for that 😊

I'm so sorry to hear how the yt comment section treats you. I think when people enjoy a video they rarely leave a comment saying that, so the only comments you get are negative ones, I'm also guilty of this because every video of yours I've seen I loved, but never took the time to write a comment. I'll try to do that more and Thank you for the content you put out, we love it and appreciate it!!!

Dafydd Davies

No Amber! Thank you ❤️ I love watching your videos and your personality brings a smile to my face every time I watch you. Screw the haters 🫡 we got your back girl!

octopus for good

Re: Resident Evil 4, if you're interested in it, why not just play the original instead to celebrate the release of the remake? You get the benefit of it being topical while maintaining the ability to attract a new audience that's played the game before and wants to relive it through new eyes. Plus, all the RE4 fans I know seem to be saying that it didn't really warrant a remake to begin with. It may just turn out to be a better game than the new one, despite technological improvements.

Trolez

Happy to hear that things are going well :) And RE4! I remember playing the original back in the day, so watching you play the remake could be interesting! Or you could play the original as others have suggested :D

Goblinounours

Glad that things are working out! Can't wait for the Subnautica videos! When you're done with it, maybe you'll try Subnautica Below Zero, too. :p

EthanBlue

It sucks to hear just how negatively impactful people have been to you, when your content is honestly nothing but a nice, chill time playing games. It's been a pleasure supporting you. I haven't subscribed to a patreon in so long and I likely won't be about to forever, but please know that if I ever do leave it wouldn't have anything to do with you (likely just more strict on my finances) I would still say I'm more of a casual viewer, despite the fact that you do inspire me. I'm taking a Bachelor in game design and it's lovely watching another game dev have something like this, not to mention it's just really entertaining in general. This whole comment feels like an incoherent mess but point is I think you're incredible, I acknowledge how much effort you've put into staying positive, and I'm so so glad you've been able to find that motivation to keep going, not for our sake, but for yours. Thank you so much 💙

Your Subnautica run was suggested to me while watching someone else's (I'm obsessed with Subnautica and often watch different playthroughs), and as I binged the first four (what was on YouTube at that time) in an afternoon, I became a Patron specifically to see parts 5-7, as well as the rest of it. I really enjoy the laid back atmosphere of your videos, and am looking forward to checking out the rest of your content. Dafydd Davies above said, "screw the haters," and that's exactly right. Some people like to be negative just to be negative, but those who stick with you will always be positive. In time that positivity will far outpace whatever negativity there is. So at the end of the day, you just do you, because those of us here are here to stay.

sundmark67

Nice to see you gaining your confidence back, I at least have enjoyed your videos greatly so far (i am watching the Outer wilds series atm) And i wish you all the best in the future. I also hope you load the SW vids on youtube or here. Same with RE4.

When you made that update video, I didn't really have any advice. This might sound silly but I felt a bit selfish that my reaction to that was just to sign up to the patreon, because I began to worry that maybe a bunch of people signing up would be even more pressure on the situation, even though I've got no expectations because it sounds tough and I see it happen so often. But, it sounds like bunch of people and other creators have been able to give great advice :) Regarding almost any public comment section I wander into... I swear there's just always at least one ignorant or hateful person in them. Sometimes I stroll through a big comment section just to find the very few that I don't like, and really let it get to me... and it's not even about me at all! I guess people are good at ignoring all the good/meaningful discussion in that way. So, I'm glad to hear feedback here has been helpful.

Mark Robson

Really good to read that you're enjoying making these vids. As others have said, public comments sections really can be nasty for no reason at all. Sometimes it's best to avoid them. It's your personality that makes the videos, so I'm up for you trying any game you feel like to see how it goes. Definitely continue Star Wars, and I cannot wait for the next Subnautica vids.

Huib Gelling

It’s so odd how antagonistic the youtube comments can be. It’s like the people who go to free music festivals just to wreck stuff and start fights. Going to paid festivals/Patreon with fellow appreciators is much better 😌

Andrew LaValley

I know a patreon means people pay for your content and if means you get people wh, actually want to see your content. I've been pretty busy lately but can't wait to catch up on subnautica (I kind of gave up on that game myself, too scary). And I really can't wait for silksong to release so I can play it and watch you play it too.

ChilledGricken

thank YOU amber!! you make awesome content and it makes my day to see a new upload every time! the discord community has also really helped me mentally and i feel like i've made a lot of progress as a person thanks to how supportive everyone there is and that wouldn't have happened without you, so thank you so much! stay awesome!

Rogue Variable

Obviously you can’t please everybody, butI I can’t imagine having nothing better to do than watch content I don’t enjoy or agree with just so I can write negative comments about it. I gladly pay for quality content, and support the ones that make me happy.

Fungoid

I think a lot of the issue with let's plays of today's major studio games (especially Ragnarok) is that they have sanded away any of the places someone could get stuck. One of the main reasons I watch those videos is to see someone struggle for a bit before they triumph. When the game holds the player's hand and firmly guides them through, it gives a pleasant if a bit dull experience for the player, but completely strips the tension and catharsis from the viewer. In a let's play, the player is the protagonist, and an easy flawless victory doesn't make for a good story. That's probably why we love your messy exploration.

Chris DePrisco

Aww, sorry YouTube people are still being jerks. But, that is tradition, after all. lol Happy to hear more Subnautica is coming this weekend! I have some time off so it's a good time to watch. Thanks Amber!

Lalo Martins

I hope you do read *our* YT comments before the video goes public, though 😸 I normally prefer posting tips there as it stays in context and gives you “engagement points” for the almighty algo… but if you prefer not to read them, I guess I can start posting them here instead (or copy-paste to both)

Marcel Génetay

Hey Amber! I just want to say, remember that most people who like something have a tendency to remain silent, instead it’s always the critics who scream the loudest. I am convinced a lot of people enjoy your content. I sure do, a new upload is a high point of my week! I am currently watching a Let’s Player called Mapocolops play Hollow Knight. Frequently I’ve seen mentions in the comments of his videos of various people’s favourite Let’s Plays. Yours is frequently mentioned as the number one Hollow Knight playthrough by many. This is true in other fora as well. Keep doing what you do, because you do it really well! Glad to hear that we Patreons are a good support for you. 😊

Ben

Glad to be here! It was honestly pretty upsetting before to hear what you were going through, with nothing to do other than lend a kind word. Excellent to see how much better you're doing lately. Also I think RE4 is a great idea! The demo that just came out has enough content for 1 video, so that might be a good way to dip into it and see what you think. (Though the full release is already less than 2 weeks away! Time flies)

Perry Wolf

I say copy & paste to both, there are those on YT who watch and play along side her, so your tips can be helpful to them as well. I should do this as well, I've only been commenting here so far. 😊

Robert Evans

I'm not sure if you're still working in the video game industry, but if you are and you release something. Do not look at the reviews, comments, etc. Been a while since I've looked at mine, but death treats were sent to the studio directed at me. 1/10 Don't recommend. Your videos are great. Keep it up.

Code: Marla

Happy to be able to support in this small way. Love the channel if I ever don't like a video, its never because of you, its just because Im not into that particular game. Resident Evil 4 play through sounds like it could be fun. Assuming it sticks very close to the original, its a pretty straight forward linear game. Its just fun to play. Tight mechanics.

VacationWolf

Thank you for being you and for the great content you put out. I'm glad you're not looking too much at the Youtube comments. You're awesome and I am so happy to support you trying new games and videos! <3 The subnautica videos have been so amazing to discover along with you!

Tormuse

I'm sorry to hear that the Youtube comments had such a negative effect on you. :( I've always felt that the Youtube comment section is a bit of a cesspool. :P It's a little better moderated now than it used to be, but it can still get pretty bad sometimes. If you need to avoid it for the sake of your mental health, that is completely understandable, especially considering how frequently you're overly hard on yourself. I'm sure you don't need anyone reinforcing your negative self-talk. I hope you find your future work and interactions more fun and engaging. :)

Nick Herrick

I'm glad I found your channel! Please try your best to ignore the Youtube comment section. It is impossible to overstate how much of a cesspool of negativity and hate it is in there. You are funny and entertaining, just keep being you! Don't let the trolls there change who you are, and who you want to be. You got this!

Human#19138980

You've created an awesome and positive community here, and it's a pleasure to be a part of that and to be able support the channel in a small way. For over a year now your videos have never failed to make me laugh, or lighten my mood when it's low, they've served as a cap stone for the good days and a comfort for the bad, so a huge thank you to you too, for all your hard work and for brightening all of our days

Pablo Santana

This really is a great community 👍😊 I'm new but glad to be here!. I commented on how I think you should upload the full length videos here ! I think people enjoy your videos and would enjoy the unedited versions.
