Hello everyone,

This month I did something that I didn't dream of being able to do when I first started taking my art seriously - I bought a house with income that I've earned as an illustrator.

As someone who is usually quite nomadic and loves change, buying a house was never a major goal for me like it is for many Australians, but I love the idea of having a space that I can make my own and that I can have as a home base.

So my partner Dan and I found a remote, quiet, humble wooden house in the south of Tasmania - an island state off the bottom of mainland Australia and virtually the bottom of the world.

This feels like a big milestone because it legitimises the financial stability of my art business, and a home that I can turn into a lovely studio space feels like the perfect investment back into my creative practice.

The studio space I was working from for the past few months was just a temporary rental while we found our own place to buy, so now I need to start from scratch setting up my new studio space. We only moved in this month so I think it'll take another few weeks to find a home for everything and get the layout just right, but currently this is the space I'm working in:

I'd love to have as many of my art supplies out and on display as possible because I find that when I can see everything I'm more likely to be inspired to create something, so I've been looking into open storage options for markers, pencils and pastels.

For now though, I'm happily working away in my quiet corner, with a lovely view of some gum trees out the window, and moody mountains in the distance.

We've settled in enough now to start making some videos and I've been enjoying drawing on cold, quiet mornings (middle of winter down here)!

Thank you for being here in this community, I couldn't have achieved this milestone without you 💖

Can't wait to create beautiful things to share with you from this new home, and let me know if you have any ideas about how I could decorate the space!

🥰 Mimi
