Hello again!

SO I wanted to share some fun things that have been happening in my world lately.

Last weekend we took a little day trip up to the mountains because there had been a few days of snow but the weather when we went was beautifully sunny. We don't get a whole lot of snow in Australia so it's fun to visit it when we can. We walked around Dove Lake in front of Cradle Mountain and it was so pretty.

PLUS there a quite a few wild wombats up there and we got to walk right past quite a lot of them, we must have seen about a dozen wandering about eating the grass!

Also, if you read my last newsletter you would have seen me talking about a YouTube video I posted performing better than any other video so far, but usually when you post a video it gets lots of views to begin with and then it will just slowly get views from then on. Well YouTube decided it was a good enough video to share with new people as well and because they were recommending it it started getting so many views.

This is mostly important because a big goal of ours (my partner Dan does the filming/editing) is to get our channel monetised so we can start making money from creating art videos, and we need 4000 watch hours to be eligible to monetise and that is so many hours. We were on track to monetise very early next year or thought that maybe - just maybe - we'd be able to monetise around Christmas if things went well.

But with YouTube recommending our video to people we got about 5 months worth of watch hours in TWO WEEKS and we became eligibile for monetisation on the weekend which is so crazy and unexpected. So that's something I'm excited about, we've applied to be monetised and the review process can take a few weeks so now we just wait. 

When you've put loads of love and energy into something it's so rewarding to see it start paying off. 

You can never calculate or rely on an algorithm recommending your content to other users, but I do think that every quality piece of content you put out into the world is like a lottery ticket and is just another chance to be seen.

In other news I've just finished illustrating a picture book (eek!) that I can't tell you any more details about just yet but will absolutely tell you all about it as soon as I can! It was a really creative process and such a dream come true, sometimes you work toward something and nothing happens for a really long time and then all the exciting things happen all at once!

One of my smaller goals last month was to make my own brush set but I just didn't quite get there with other things going on, but I am determined to make it this month. You can keep me accountable!
