It's day 21 of my arty advent calendar and yesterday we went to a waterpark to cool off because it's so hot in Queensland at the moment! The weather isn't very Christmassy but I'm still enjoying drawing cozy things!I want to share a drawing snapshot with you today because it's been quite a while since I did one! I drew this Christmas themed bakery for Instagram and tried to make it feel quite warm and cozy, and drew some festive treats in the window. Really the only thing that makes this bakery festive is the wreath, Christmas trees and the types of treats in the window - if I changed those things then it would just be a normal, cozy bakery! Here is a simple breakdown of my illustration process, and the colour palette I used for it:As usual, the drawing process went a little something like this:

First I did a basic sketch of what I wanted my bakery to look like. This changed a little in the end.

Then I coloured in each area with a flat, base colour. I actually borrowed the foreground Christmas trees from another illustration so those were already pretty much finished.

After that I drew lots of treats in the window

Then I added shading and texture to everything

And finally I finished up with some extra lighting on the trees up the front and around the window.

And that's it! I'm quite happy with how this bakery turned out, it's definitely the kind of place I would pop into for some baked goods!See you again tomorrow ❤

The finał version is so stunning!! I should follow that order too (usually I work on specific components separately and the outcome is not very satisfying 😅🙈)

Sometimes I do a little bit of that too when I get excited about a particular area!

Of course! For sketching and the base layers I'm using a brush that I made that I'll be sharing in a couple of days here on Patreon, and for texture I'm using a brush called 'natural feel' from Kyle's Megapack (which I think is only available for Photoshop). Trying to make my own texture brush as well so that I can share it for both Photoshop and Procreate users 😊
