Drawing Snapshot - Girl In A Cute Jumper! (Patreon)

Hello my lovelies, I thought it would be nice to share with you all a little breakdown of a girl character I posted to Instagram yesterday.

I actually drew this girl for a video walkthrough for Tier 3 Beautiful Bluebell patrons that I released yesterday as well but I also wanted to share a mini breakdown of it for everyone because I think she's quite sweet!

Characters are so fun to draw and there are loads of ways to personalise a super simple composition like this. For this girl I went with a short bob hairstyle and a cuute jumper.

As always, the drawing process went a little something like this:

First I drew some idea sketches in pencil

Then I picked a sketch I liked most and drew a digital version of it

I brought my sketch layer down to 20% opacity and set it to 'multiply' blend mode

On layers under my sketch I then coloured in each element as a single block of colour

Using that as a foundation I added details like the stripes on the jumper and the rosy cheeks

Then I drew in quite a few layers of shading and texture to each element

And that's it!

Drawings like this are nice because you don't need a complicated pose or composition to make a cute character, plus they're great practise for commissions!
