Drawing Snapshot - Encouraging Pigeon (Patreon)

Hello my lovely flowers!

This week is going by so quickly - I just spent the last couple of days making a video for YouTube about being an introvert and running an art business online (here is the link if you'd like to watch it) and now I'm going to spend the rest of the week sketching and making Patreon content!

I wanted to quickly pop in though and share a little breakdown of an illustration I drew a couple of days ago for the video. There's also the colour palette I used - feel free to use it for your own illustrations if you like!

As always, the process went a little something like this:

First I sketched out my composition

Then I reduced that sketch layer to about 20% opacity and set it to multiply blend mode

I blocked in the colour of each different element on its own layer (beneath the sketch layer)

Then I went through and added a broad pass of texture and shading

After that I gave everything some more specific shading and also details like the feathers

And that's about it!

I don't think I've ever drawn a pigeon before, they're actually quite sweet to draw!
