Drawing Snapshot - Reading Rabbit! (Patreon)

Hello my beautiful flowers!

I've been quiet this past week because I was spending time with family in Brisbane and enjoying the company of my parents' beautiful dogs, but now I'm back home in Tasmania and back to illustrating!

I realised that I hadn't yet illustrated the subject of the drawing poll that I put out at the start of May, so I just enjoyed a relaxing couple of hours illustrating what the majority voted for, which was a rabbit with glasses reading a book. I'll post it to Instagram this evening!

Here is a little breakdown of the process and the palette that I used:

So as usual, the drawing process went a little something like this:

First I drew out a basic sketch of my composition

Then I made that sketch layer about 20% opacity and changed the blend mode to 'multiply' so that I'd be able to see through it onto any layers below

On layers beneath my sketch, I coloured in all of the main elements of my illustration on separate layers

Then I added some little details like hearts, sparkles, and the book cover

After that I added lots and lots of shading and texture layers

And that's about it!

It feels great to be back and drawing after a nice week off. I had intended to do some drawing while I was in Brisbane but I was having a nice time with friends and family and decided it would be better to take a mini break to feel refreshed (especially after doing lots of drawing for my second picture book earlier in the month)!

I hope you're doing well, I have a few things to share with you over the next week!

❤
