Hello my beautiful flowers, I hope you had a lovely weekend!
This month has been a chilly one for me as Tasmania entered winter, but I quite like the cold because it means I can drink lots of tea and spend time indoors drawing in the warmth.
I've been doing quite a bit of client work this month for picture books so I haven't done a whole lot of drawing just for fun, but it's exciting to be able to work on new projects and sometimes I have to pinch myself that this is all happening because I committed to improving my illustration skills and sharing my creations on social media a couple of years ago!
We had a couple of friends visit for a few days earlier in the month so we got to be tourists with them and show them around our local area. There was a cold snap and snow not too far up the road so of course we drove over to make teeny snowmen. Australia does get snow in a few places during winter but it's still quite novel for a lot of us!
We also went to the city which I don't do too often at the moment and I bought this cuuute patchwork jumper (the one I'm wearing in the pictures below) that I'm so in love with and have hardly stopped wearing since I bought it! It's such a beautiful colour palette and it matches my illustrations so perfectly (it's from Ghanda in Australia if you're wondering).
We've also had some beautiful sunny days and last week Dan and I went out for a nice picnic lunch and it's so lovely to get outside after it's been cold and rainy to get some fresh air and some new inspiration from nature. I love going for nature walks and they pretty much never fail to put me in a better mood and spark a few ideas.
I definitely feel like I've been spending a bit too much time on my computer lately which is tricky because as a digital illustrator so much of my work has to be done on a screen, so it's important to me to take little walks when I can, and I know that when summer comes back around I'll spend less time on my computer again. Do you guys ever feel like you spend too much time on digital screens?
Also I've been really enjoying hosting the illustration club here on Patreon and it brings me so much joy to see your ideas and creations over on Discord! There are lots of adorable best friends being born in your illustrations this month and they're really lovely to look at, you're such a creative bunch of people and I hope that you know that!❤️
