Helloo my lovelies!

I fiinnaally got around to drawing this character that I asked you about in a poll over a month ago 🙈 I guess July turned out to be busier than I thought it would be and I didn't get too much time for drawing outside of bigger projects!

Anyway, I'll post her to Instagram later tonight but I wanted to share with you a little snapshot of the drawing process.

So my process went a little something like this:

First I drew out a simple sketch of my composition (drew her head too big whoops so I fixed that later)

Then I made my sketch layer 'multiply' blend mode and reduced the opacity to around 20%

On new layers below, I coloured in all of the different areas, using the sketch layer as a guide for the shapes.

Then I added some details like the lines of her shirt and the paint splatters

After that I spent quite a while drawing in layers of shading and texture

Then I added a background rainbow and some extra sparkly bits around her

And that's about it!

I like the soft colours that I used in this illustration and I think the rainbow behind her is super cute too!

Feel free to use my colour palette for your own illustrations 🥰

She looks really beautiful! 💛 I like your rainbows! 😍 It's definitely not easy to pick the right colours for them.

What does the "multiply" option do? Not sure if you have already, but do you have any tips for backgrounds? I always struggle with them.

'Multiply' means that any colours you draw on that layer will be multiplied by the colours on layers below. It makes the colours darker and more vibrant and is an easy way to add shading that feels like a natural colour match. I don't I've covered backgrounds specifically but I definitely could! Is it building scenes and environments that you struggle with?

Thank you! I spent probably a bit too long playing around with the colour variations for this rainbow 😅

I struggle with all things related to backgrounds haha. From just a simple color background (for a simple illustration or for a sticker) to a background scenery. Also, I've never been able to build a scene, I usually have great ideas, but I get anxious and usually never finish them. So for now I can't get passed to individual drawings (hope that make sense)

Ok good to know, I'll see if I make a little article with some tips for background 🥰
