Hello my beautiful flowers!

I hope you had a wonderful weekend - I was planning to do some work because I didn't work everyday last week but decided to have a restful weekend instead and it was so nice!

I wanted to tell you about an exhibition that I went to see last week that I really enjoyed and I think you would too. It was the Disney: The Magic of Animation exhibition that was on at Brisbane museum (which was very exciting because we don't get too many big exhibitions in Brisbane) and it was all about the creative process of the original animated Disney movies.

They had lots of original sketches, concept art and storyboards and it was so special to get an insight into their creative process. I have some Disney visual development books like The Art of Up and The Art of Moana and it honestly felt like I was walking through one of those books and seeing the art up close!

I was so impressed by the fine line art of the animators and I also really loved some of the background art and concept art.

Here are a few of my takeaways from the exhibition:

A sketch doesn't have to be neat or perfect to convey a character or motion

You can do a lot with just a pencil on paper

Sometimes the most magical scenes use colours you wouldn't expect to use

I would really like to have Disney hair 😄

Anyway I just though it was really lovely and wanted to share some highlights with you - if the exhibition (or something similar) ever comes to your city then I recommend going to see it!

🥰

I’m currently reading “They Drew As They Pleased Vol 4: The Hidden Art of Disney's Mid-Century Era” which I checked out from my local library. The book is magical, so I can’t even begin to imagine seeing all of that work up close!

Oh, I would really like to have Disney Hair, too. :D I am currently looking through the old Disney Films, as we have Disney+ in the moment. It is really great art!
