Hello my beautiful flowers!

In a recent poll I asked you what I should draw next and you voted for two ladybugs on a happy flower and I'm so glad you did because I think it turned out so cuute!

Sometimes the simple illustrations are the most enjoyable 😍

I drew this a bit earlier in the month but I love the colour palette and since you were involved from the beginning, I thought I'd share a simple breakdown of the illustrating process for this drawing.

My illustration process went a little something like this:

First I sketched out my composition which was quite simple for this one.

Then I made my sketch layer about 20% opacity and 'multiply' blend mode so that I could easily see through it (multiply blend mode will 'mutliply' the colours on this layer with anything on layers below which has the effect of making the sketch outlines always darker).

On new layers below, I coloured in all of the elements of my illustration, keeping things of different colours on separate layers.

Then I went through and added details like lines and spots on the leaves and petals.

I gave everything a few layers of shading with my texture brushes, and that's about it!

You're very welcome to use this colour palette for your own art if you like, I've attached it as a jpg below that you can import into your drawing software and use the eyedropper tool to pick the colours.

Thanks again for your help with deciding what to draw! 🌷🥰🐞

It’s so interesting to see the difference adding in the shading and the texture makes to the final illustration
