Hello my lovely flowers!Sometimes I fancy just sitting down and drawing something really simple just for the enjoyment of it, without any pressure for it to be used anywhere or learn anything new from it. Last week I sat and drew this simple little bunny in the evening while I watched some TV, and because it's so simple I thought I'd show you a visual breakdown of how I created it.I show you snapshots of my process with illustrations every month but I'll do this one a bit differently so you can see in more depth how several layers bring everything to life.I always start with a sketch, and recently I've made some sketching brushes (I'm hoping to make a proper brush pack with them soon) that I'm enjoying using. I wanted a simple, symmetrical composition that wouldn't take me too long to draw. Then I started colouring in the shapes from my sketch (I draw these with my sketch layer still visible but I hid it for this demonstration). I start with the background shape, and work up from there.I keep colouring everything in until I have all of my main shapes drawn. From there I can start adding important details, which for this illustration is the bunny's face and ears. Now I can really start jazzing things up a bit. I go through all of my elements and add some simple line details to them to make things interesting. For a first pass on the texture, I use a really broad texture brush (for this one I used Mimi Texture Fill at this stage) to give the leaves and even some of the background a bit of texture. I don't apply the texture evenly so that there's also a bit of a gradient to it.Then I add another pass of stronger texture to act more like shading. I focused some around the bunny's head to help it contrast more from the background since my background colour is quite light and the bunny is white.Lastly I added a texture overlay image to the entire illustration. I used 'Mimi Texture Overlay 01' which is one of my own textures. And that's it! I really enjoyed drawing this little cutie just for the fun of it 🥰
