Hello my lovely flowers!

I drew these sweet bumblebee buddies the other day and it was a really simple process so I wanted to give you a breakdown of it 🌸

My drawing process for this illustration went a little something like this:

First, I drew a simple sketch of my composition (inspired by some forget-me-nots that I saw in the garden)

Then I reduced my sketch layer to about 30% opacity so that I would be able to see through it onto new layers below

I filled in a pink circle background, and used my sketch layer as a reference to start drawing my shapes in colour

I drew all of my flowers on the same layer, then each bumblee across three layers - the body, and a layer for each wing.

Then I started adding details like the yellow of the flowers and faces for the bees (these were on new layers again)

For shading and texture I took a broad texture brush (I mostly used my Texture Medium and Chunky Crayon brushes) and added texture to pretty much everything as a clipping mask layer

And that was about it!

This was a simple illustration that was fun to draw and didn't take too long either! I've attached below the basic colour palette that I used (before I started adding shading) if you'd like to use it for your own illustrations 🐝🌸

I do not know if you have a video or talked about this before but how do you and other digital artists get such straight lines?! When i do digital art it doesnt look like i want it to...and i sketch before outlining it.

That's a great idea for a tutorial topic, and one that I haven't made before! You can try increasing the 'streamline' setting in the 'Brush Settings' tab if you're using Procreate to help smooth out your lines, or in Photoshop a similar setting is called 'smoothing'.

Ok! I will try this tip :) thanks

I was so excited to finally finish a piece on procreate and set it up for prints and sticker. Tiny problem. Not sure what I’m doing wrong but when I printed it, it only printed pink! One color. Any help would be humbly appreciated. I gotta catch up to you and can’t even get out of the starting gate!! 🤣❤️
