*please note the advent calendar downloads were exclusive to December 2023 patrons. If you were a Patron in December and missed the downloads then send me a message 😊*Hello lovelies, it's December 3rd so I have another advent calendar gift for you!

I've made a set of 6 snowflake stamp brushes for you to use in your winter illustrations, and you can download them below as either a .abr file (for Photoshop) or a .brushset file (for Procreate).

If you haven't used digitals stamps before, they act the same as regular brushes except they make individual shapes instead of lines.I drew this little bunny illustration a few days ago and used the stamps to add snow to my scene and then added a blur effect to them! I'll post this illustration to Instagram in the next couple of days ❄️

Blur Effect

If you'd like to add a blur effect to soften your snowflakes like I have, here's how to do it in Photoshop and Procreate:

To add blur to a layer in Photoshop, select the layer and then go to Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur. The effect will be permanent so make a duplicate or your layer first, or make the layer a smart object first to be able to make adjustments.

To add blur to a layer in Procreate, select the layer and then go to Adjustments (the wand icon in the top left), and select Gaussian Blur. You can swipe left or right on the screen to change the blur level, and tap the Adjustments icon again to commit the changes. This is permanent so duplicate your layer first and hide it so that you have a copy of the original!

I hope you enjoy using them in your winter scenes! 💖❄️

Ooooh, thank you. Really excited to see these snowflake stamps today! 😺 I will play with them in Procreate for a "kitty cocoa scene", then try to animate them in Dreams. (Have you had a chance to play with Dreams yet?)

Oh wow so pretty! And thanks for the little tutorial, the bunny looks so sweet in the illustration 😊

Ooh lovely! No I haven't uused Dreams yet but I think I will get it soon. What do you think of it?

I'm really enjoying Dreams! It's a great companion to Procreate and fun to use once you're up-to-speed with the interface and basic functionality. (Doesn't take long with a good tutorial.) Since I'm brand new to animation, I don't have much to compare Dreams to, apart from tiny forays into After Effects and Flash (back in the "dinosaur age" – ha ha!). It's still very early days, but I think Dreams is definitely a game changer for plenty of creatives, both hobbyists and pros alike. Looking forward to seeing what you create with Dreams when you dive in. For now, I hope you're enjoying some much deserved rest and recharging time. Take care.
