Hello everyone, I hope you are well!

I enjoyed drawing these sweet duckies last week with some of the brushes that I made for the advent calendar in December - I think I'm going to make a few more brushes and turn them into another brush pack 😍

Here's a simple breakdown of my digital drawing process, plus you can download the colour palette below if you'd like to use it yourself!

My drawing process went something like this:

First I drew a rough sketch of my composition. I used the prompt 'ducks on a walk' from my 2024 prompt list.

Then I made my sketch layer about 30% opacity so that I would be able to see through it onto new layers below.

Underneath the sketch layer, I coloured in all of the main shapes of my illustration (using the sketch as a reference). Most of the different elements go on their own layers, but some of the flowers are grouped together on the same layers.

I drew in some little details on the flowers and on the ducks, and drew lots of tiny flowers on the grass at their feet.

I wanted to have a soft gradient background so I used my Soft Crayon and Chunky Crayon brushes to softly blend the colours between green, pink and blue.

Then I gave everything a few layers of shading and texture. I mostly do this with 'multiply' blend mode (in the opacity settings) on each layer so it deepens a lot of the colours.

And that was it!

I think they turned out really cute, I kind of want to make myself a little t-shirt with them on it!
