Apologies for failing to post a roundup for these past couple weeks. Turns out being a television producer takes up a lot of your time.

Speaking of my new job, have a behind-the-scenes look at my job. I am an associate producer for WHAM-TV, which airs on Channel 13 in Rochester, New York. My shifts are 4 to 9am every weekday, so if you text me after 8 in the evening, don't be surprised if I'm already asleep.

In practice, being an associate producer means writing breaking news stories, adapting TV segments for the web, running production orders and dossiers from the newsroom to the studio, and doing odd jobs that are my responsibility for reasons nobody has explained. In short, it's the most important job in the history of journalism and I should receive a salary that would awe Gayle King.

But recently I met two little tenrecs from Madagascar at work. Their names are Johnny and June, and getting to pet them was better than payment to me.

So. The news. It's pretty bad shit. The destruction of the Key Bridge in Baltimore will devastate generations. Families are already getting destroyed. The Wire Season 2 now feels insufficiently pessimistic. Trump is getting off lightly after a brief flirtation with consequences. And Biden just sent more instruments of death to Israel. Does anybody have good news? I'm hearing about too many dead kids at work.
