Apologies once again for dishing this out as a $1 post, but it's been an exceptionally stressful month and I need another paid post. Babooshka should be out some time this evening.
33 1/3: They Might Be Giants' Flood (S. Alexander Reed & Elizabeth Sandifer) - Why yes, I do know the author, but the book is also good on its own merits. A fun, breezy tract on the dynamics of fandom and playing. Easily a 33 1/3 highlight.
Ashes to Ashes: The Songs of David Bowie (Chris O'Leary) - Looks like this was nepotism month for my reading. I know far too many talented writers, so some of you had better start sucking. But needless to say, this book slaps and if you read Dreams of Orgonon, you should absolutely be reading Chris' stuff.
Comments on the Society of the Spectacle (Guy Debord) - Lucid and poignant as always. Few political theorists have produced work that's aged this well.
The World Without Us (Alan Weisman) - Sublime piece of speculative journalism on a post-human world. Might show in Damn Dirty Apes at some point.
