Essay Sequence for The Dreaming (Patreon)
Content
Before we wrap up Never for Ever in a month or so, I figured I'd give you all a preview of the Dreams of Orgonon chapter on The Dreaming. Here's how I'm arranging the posts.
Sat In Your Lap
Leave It Open
Get Out of My House
Suspended in Gaffa
Lord of the Reedy River
Houdini
Kinda/Snakedance
The Dreaming
Pull Out the Pin
Night of the Swallow
All the Love
There Goes a Tenner
Flowers
Ne t’enfuis pas
This sequence came together with astonishing ease. Unlike Kate Bush's previous albums, The Dreaming was recorded in blocks with different producers, so it's much easier to arrange songs from The Dreaming chronologically. The Dreaming sessions also produced fewer songs than the Never for Ever period did, so the chapter should be the shortest so far. That said, it's also going to be a challenging part of the blog. The Dreaming is Bush's most sprawling album in terms of subject matter and scope, so writing about it will mean reading lots of secondary sources. I expect to read a book at a rate of approximately one per essay. Hopefully that doesn't slow me down significantly, but either way, I hope you enjoy the upcoming essays. If all goes well, the "Delius" post will go up on WordPress next Monday, and I should start writing "The Infant Kiss" this week. See you soon.
