Riding on the high of queuing my first new Dreams of Orgonon posts for public reading in five months (“The Infant Kiss” drops on Monday, followed by “Night Scented Stock” come Wednesday), I’ve decided to treat you lot with a taste of what’s next for my writing. Here’s what you should expect in the immediate future:

I’m doing the last revisions on “Army Dreamers” over the weekend, after which I’ll schedule it to go up on WordPress. The final version of the post will be on the website on the 13th.

On Sunday, I’ll write and post a long-procrastinated mini-essay for $2+ backers on the sapphic anime film Adolescence of Utena, commissioned long ago in another era by my longstanding friend, supporter, and now podcast editor Ashley Watts.

While Ashley is on my mind, I should mention that they’re diligently and exhaustively editing the pilot for Of Human Bondage, a podcast on James Bond movies co-hosted by myself, Kit Power, and Sam Maleski. The first episode was a blast to record, so if that’s any indication, this is going to be a terrific podcast and the three of us can’t wait to show you what we’ve done so far. (And yes, it’s going to be a Patreon perk. Haven’t firmly decided on what tier it’s going to be available at, but given that it’s going to be a public podcast, I’ll probably put it at the $1+ level).

On Monday, I will start writing the “Breathing” essay, which will be the last of the Never for Ever essays after a year of hacking away at that album. I’m extremely proud of this batch of essays — they’re the best stuff I’ve written to date, and I can’t wait for my work on The Dreaming to outflank them.

This evening, I belatedly realized that “The Infant Kiss” was the 50th Dreams of Orgonon essay. I mentioned this to my girlfriend Emily, and she suggested writing a celebratory post. That seemed like a good idea, so I may write a brief retrospective on the first two years of the blog. Hopefully it won’t take me another two years to have written 100 essays, but there’s no telling where the hell life is going to take me.

July is going to be Catching Up On Commissions Month. Towards the end of next week, I will write about The Man Who Fell to Earth for $2+ backers (another Ashley commission), and over the next few weeks I’ll turn out a couple pieces on subjects of my dear friend and tyrannical editor Will Shaw’s choice: Carly Rae Jepsen and Russell T Davies’ Years and Years. At some point I’ll unveil a Watership Down essay (Ashley again), after a reread/rewatch of the book and movie.

All patrons can have an annotated synopsis of The Dreaming very shortly, as a treat. See you with that in a bit.
