Let's do a roundup while I'm preparing to move for the 25th time in 23 years.

I've dived headlong into a book about my second-great grandmother Anastazie Urban. Initially I figured I could write an article or two about her, but when I realized the significance of "Czech-American grocer who immigrated in the 1880s, was active in Czech sokols throughout the early 20th century, and serves as a lens on early 20th century Cleveland Czechoslovakia" was too good a story to pass up. Watch this space for more.

Additionally, I'm working on the Mad Dogs and Englishmen essay for Tardis Eruditorum Volume 8. Wild to be making my print debut with this series that transformed how I viewed media and politics and also got me adopted. Should be fun though. Doctor Who meets LOTR.

Now the headlines:

Florida is weighing a ban on gender-affirming care for adults and children.4

41 people burned to death in a Cairo church this week.

In somewhat better news, the feds are investigating the Southern Baptist Convention over its abuse history.

My former EIC at The Statesman, Sara Ruberg, is doing great work at the Wall Street Journal, most recently on pubs and inflation. Forgive her use of the word "fries." She is a Midwestern girl.
