You went to culinary school? Me too! Never made a field trip to a slaughter house, though. I could only afford to go for 1 year so it was a lot of making stock and pastry and learning sanitation.

Glad you liked it, as this is a very convoluted episode. It's also a "mytharc" (mythology / main story-line) episode that's disguised as a standalone at first. Very enjoyable reaction.

Yeah, I thought we were going to get a politically charged vegetarian/vegan/religious episode, so didn't see the main storyline coming at all. I guess I'm predisposed to such things these days, it's everywhere hah!

I did, yes. I left school at 16 to enroll and was another fresh-faced victim who knew nothing about the dangers of student loans and allowances. I loved my classes though, had a huge crush on my tutor lol! Was able to take part in a few work experiences with various restaurants in the City. Was a part of the crew that was lucky enough to cater for the opening of the NZ National Museum, Te Papa. Where late at night, we broke out of the Museum and ran riot as all dumb teenagers do, on the streets of Wellington. Over the years I've worked in numerous kitchens. Not now though, the hours just don't work with a small child. Btw, I finally paid off my student loans last year. That's just over 20 years it was a monkey on my back. I almost cried when I paid off that last payment. It was the first time I'd been completely debt-free.

I really like this episode. It was convoluted, yes (there was a planned crossover with another show that never happened, which partially explains some of the messiness of the script), but I really like how it all came together in the end. I like it more every time I rewatch it. Also, we got Mulder and Scully on a date at a rib joint -- very cute. Apparently, that moment where Mulder reaches over and wipes Scully's mouth was an improv by David Duchovny. ha ha.
