You should absolutely be laughing. This was the first truly comedic episode (though it was scary AF too -- that little "Fiji mermaid" scared the crap out of me) and the writer, Darin Morgan, is one of the best X-Files writers. And I must share this trivia tidbit -- Gillian Anderson actually put a live cricket in her mouth for that scene. Scully may know a sleight of hand she learned from her uncle but Gillian Anderson does not.

She's damn brave for that, eww, lol. For real, Leonard was legitimately creepy! The whole episode was just plain fun, I loved every character.
