Definitely one of my favorite X-Files episodes. Firmly in the TOP10. Love the tech aspect of it when they bring in The Lone Gunmen. The paranoia and the lighting on Scully's face in the dark motel room and the conspiracy. I love how both Mulder and Mr X report to their superiors at the end of the episode that the source remains an unknown subject.

The episode you're thinking of is "Blood", season two, one of my favorites just like this one. In that episode people were hallucinating seeing images in digital devices caused by a chemical that was being sprayed. Here it's a similar theme, and, when I watched this episode for the first time, it also reminded me of "Blood". I'm glad you liked it. Can't wait for the finale! :)

This is a fantastic episode for Scully and Gillian Anderson. It reminds me of the season 2 finale, where shady gov't devices were also driving Mulder crazy. Fortunately, Mulder didn't have to shoot Scully in this episode to snap her out of it.
