I promise you... it will all get much better. :) Although, the weakest one in S4 so far is for me personally "Teliko", and this one. I love "Herrenvolk" and "Unruhe", and "Home" while disgusting, is also effective, I think. So I'd say "Teliko" and "The Field Where I Died" are the weakest. Don't worry, you won't be disappointed. Regarding this particular episode though, many fans didn't like it portraying someone other than Scully being his soulmate in a past life.

You know what's funny? I LOVED this episode when I first watched it in high school. I loved the idea of reincarnation, that you could remember you past lives, that everyone would live again, and that we'd meet up with the people we love over and over again in different combinations. I also loved the music and those bits of poetry from the beginning and the end. Now watching it as an adult, I find the episode a bit weak and kind of hokey. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
