WHAT AN EPISODE!

Yeah I knew you'd need to prepare yourself for this episode lol, pretty Brutal I think for Syril it was a collection of many things, I believe he begin to kinda care about the people of Ghorman a bit since he'd been working there for over a year and got to know Enza and her group etc, I think he was trying to make his way over to them in the crowd before the massacre started to warn them but didn't make it in time. But yeah pretty much his entire world came crashing down when he realized he was lied to and the Empire orchestrated all this and this massacre, the fact he thought he believed in what they "stood" for which was order and they demonstrate this, I guess something like this was too far for him and had nothing left so became a rabid animal basically when he saw Cass. I think the Droid with the "girl voice" that you could possibly be misremembering is L3 which was Lando's droid in the Han Solo movie 🤣🤣 she was voiced by Phoebe Waller-Bridge

I'm speculating, but Syril had been living on Ghormanfor at least two years and in many ways they treated him much better than he'd ever been treated. It might be the closest he'd ever come to belonging, ironic since he was spying on them. I do think he believed in the supposed ideals of the empire, not that it justifies the bad things he did in the past, but seems to have generally believed there was a greater good or order they were fighting for. And the callous murder and harvesting of the planet for resources was such a mask off reveal/moment for him that the couldn't stomach it anymore. Personally I doubt he'd ever become a "rebel" or anything more than a disillusioned former Imperial, but him getting killed because he couldn't let his grudge against Cassian go is all part of his arc/tragedy.

It was a hard watch, even though I knew it was coming. Syrils end was pretty tragic, considering how much loyalty he put into his position and the Empire, and yeah, to have that loyalty squashed like it was, it broke him. I still love the 'who are you line', and his reaction to it. Yes, you're right, I was thinking about the droid in Solo!
