Yeah loved the Fight with Maul, Daki & Devon it gave me Phantom Menace Flashbacks, except this time there was no Rayshield to stop Devon from protecting her Master when he needed it.

maul wanted devon to bring daki to him essentially so that they could have a debate in front of her, so that maul could poke holes in the point of being a jedi post order 66. the timeframe this story takes place in really allows for maul to make a compelling pitch to devon, the way he frames it is so smart. it’s less about “come be evil with me and rule the galaxy together muahaha”, it’s more so framed as “this world fucking sucks, and it hates you, so why are you bothering?”. or “politely asking the nazis to stop genociding your people will accomplish nothing.” because while it’s good and noble to stay 100% true to your morals, your believe system, culture, etc, in the face of tyranny and evil… what if at a certain point you’re doing so to the detriment of yourself and what your ultimate end goal is? what good is it gonna accomplish if all of your people are wiped out because literally nobody was willing to adapt to their surroundings? how far would the rebellion have gotten if it was only run by the mon mothma’s of the world, and didn’t also have luthen’s? people who were “condemned to use the weapon of my enemy in order to defeat them”. at the very least, i imagine it would’ve taken the rebellion much longer to achieve their goals, and who’s to say they would’ve even had that time to do so. what’s stopping the empire from just nuking everyone? (such good timing to watch this right after andor lol, it’s a good companion piece. even if the messaging isn’t as in your face compared to andor, it’s still there if you look for it) not saying maul is right, but he makes a compelling point. PS. sam witwer in a post show interview said that after daki messed up maul’s leg, that spin kick he did to daki in retaliation near the end broke his ribs

i really wish daki would’ve had a green saber, just to fully lean into the visual callbacks to the phantom menace. but then we wouldn’t have gotten that amazing shot of maul’s side being completely covered in red versus daki/devon’s side being blue.
