A lot of people complained about this final series, but I thought it was fitting. It allowed Dexter to mature while also showing how he'll never be able to grow out of his worst traits and how dangerous to good people he is, not just other criminals. Given how many actual people committed real murders they said were inspired by Dexter it was wise for the writers to end his story this way. Was fun watching it with you.

Outside of some show centered around Harrison, I'm glad they didn't leave it open for more Dexter. It would have shattered any suspension of disbelief if he was able to get away. It really was get caught or die.

OK, I finally had a chance to watch this. Was that ending terrible or what? As I told you back at the ending of the original series, you can watch new blood, but you’re going to be disappointed. The whole reason they came out with New Blood was because fans were really disappointed at what happened to Jennifer Carpenter‘s character “Deb” when the original season ended. This was supposed to be sort of an apology to the fans by bringing her back for another season. There was supposed to be a season 2 for New Blood, but it was so poorly received that they just decided to end it after one season. Finally (and I don’t wanna give anything away for those who haven’t seen the end yet but) I hated what they did with Harrison. They could’ve ended it 100 different ways other than how they did it and it been better. Just my humble opinion of course. Now on to The Wire and Chernobyl☢️😁👍🏻 Oh, and don’t forget to watch Star Wars Rogue One before you watch the Phantom Menace.

I'm interested to know what people thought might be a better ending for Dexter's story. He definitely had to go and it feels fitting that Harrison be the one that does it. imo the conversation with Harrison brings everything up to the surface and shows Dexter really is the villain and shouldn't get to escape. Maybe a more extravagant death might've been more satisfying for the fanbase but this seems like one of the better ways for the story to end.

I personally liked the ending. Dexter gets the end he deserved but at the same time gives Harrison his first kill. There was supposed to be a continuation following Harrison and a prequel of young Dexter but I'm not sure where those sit anymore. Great reaction I can't wait for the next TV series and I hope it's soon because it's gonna be awesome to rewatch with y'all!!! Have a great Wednesday everyone TGIF is almost here!

Dexter started his journey by quenching his need by hunting with Harry, and Dexter was killed by his son using the hunting rifle Dexter gave to him. As he realized he broke the code waaaaaay back as he was to focused on himself and his life and path to care that much or even truly notice. Thus concluding Harrison‘s “table” moment…. Also, if you noticed Harrison says exactly what Dexter said to his first victim on the first episode of Dexter. “Open your eyes and look at what you’ve done”. Though Dexter says it as “Open your eyes and look at what you did” It was a great ending IMO because it truly came full circle. Dexter caused his father’s suicide (essentially killed his father) and Harrison killed his father. As Dex said in season 3, “Sins of the Father go on and on until someone.. you, decides to stop it” 🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌

I think a big theme of the series in general is that even though Dexter had "the code" it still didn't keep him from killing innocent (by Dexter's standards anyway) people. In fact, "Don't get caught" and not killing the innocent will inevitably end up in conflict leading to either capture or murder of someone outside of the code.

If the voiceover of the letter had been spoken at the end of 8, I think it would have been better. Killing him obviously wasn't for me.

I couldn't wait for this season and dreaded it at the same time. Michael C Hall wanted it to end so I knew he would die. The only good thing about the finale in season 8 is that he didn't die. But EVERY SINGLE interview he did for 10 years on ANY project, always had the question "will there be more Dexter?" He was tired of answering the question and wanted it to be behind him. While we loved the character, he didn't want to do it anymore. I do think he reprised the role amazingly. I just thing having Harrison live with the guilt of having killed his own father for the rest of his life was horrendous and selfish of Dexter. I just hated the way they changed Dexter's character, trying to make us hate him so we would accept his death. For years he was billed as "America's most loveable serial killer". And then this? The writers just wanted to assuage their own guilt in making us love him. To me it was awful and I would never watch any new series centered around Harrison, ugh.

Hey your speculation and wanting of spin-off...me too. This was so much fun watching all over again with you. There are plans by Showtime to do a spinoff with the Harrison character but in the distant future. I did read that Showtime in the next year or two, plans to do a Dexter prequel called "Dexter: Origins" although Michael will not be playing his younger self, but Michael may appear where the younger character is looking into the future as himself. The limited series will focus on his early days with the Miami Metro Police Department and his transformation into the serial killer he became by the time of the events of the original Dexter first aired. The new show will begin as Dexter graduates college and first joins the police force. The show also plans to incorporate “stories of real-life serial killers of the time period back in the 1980s. Michael in an interview said the ship as sailed to play his younger college age Dexter, but that he would be open to do flash foward scenes. I'm so eager to see the prequel.

Little late so hope you see this. Yeah definitely not the ending anybody was expecting or wanted. made me appreciate the original ending so much more. I liked the entire season up until the last 20 mins of the final episode. The majority of people including myself were pretty pissed, how could they screw it up 2 times lol One thing I did love was Kurt. He is in my top 5 dexter villains. To me it was just very rushed, it had the potential to run at least one more season with him on the run AND the fact that there was never a face to face with Batista was ridiculous. a total waste. R.I.P. Dexter. and Hell no I aint watching no Harrison spinoff if they ever make one, I hate him lol

Yeah, I always wanted him to get caught and have the whole world know exactly what he’s done. I wish we had more involvement with Batista at the end, I wish we could have seen more of the world coming to terms with the reality that such a mastermind serial killer had finally been revealed. To see Doakes and Laguerta finally vindicated. All of his coverups and lies exposed. The total mind fuck that would have ensued. I think exposing his killer genius and having to face the consequences of his actions for all the world to see would have been more satisfying to me. Though I still enjoyed what we got.

BJ, that rifle can't be bigger than a 22, no more kick than a pellet gun. 😁 Edit: after some research, that could be a Remington 873 which does not come in 22 long rifle, but based on the size of the magazine, it cannot be a very large caliber.

First of all Harrison had brown eyes when he was little. How did they turn blue af? All this money Hollywood gas and they can't afford color contacts? They did it in both dahlmer movies too. Secondly, fuck this series. It was getting so good. I thought they were gonna kill together and it would be a beautiful new series. 🤧 wasn't expecting to to ugly cry hard today. I really loved dexter as a character. He dies by the hand of his non serial killer son??? Naw! I'm gonna just gonna let dexter live forever in the book series. I heard the next spin off is gonna be about Harrison. I bet ya'll any amount of money that Dexter's ghost will become Harrison's Harry. Loved Deb in this spin off too! She was creepy as hell and just there to roast him. 😅
