I remember watching a movie called battle royal, so this movie didn't make as big an impact as it did for a lot of people because it was so similar. Still, its a very good series tho.

JBGirlNextDoor

OK, this is cool. I've never really watched these from beginning to end . I've just seen pieces so this will be fun to watch with you guys. Thanks as always. Hope you two are doing well.☀️

Midgey_M

I just got so excited!!

Well this is a suprise. Be interesting to see your reactions to this movie. It took me a min to wrap my head around the storyline but I got there!!😂 Loves to y'all!!!❤️❤️

Rose Dallman

The Hunger Games movie trilogy is based on a best selling young adult series of books. I'm really glad that you guys are watching this. The movies received their fair share of criticism because of the subject matter. Many parents refused to let their young children see these films despite their popularity. I understand the concerns, but I think if you look around at our society today, given starving families, homelessness, gun control, bankruptcy, rebellion against government policies and politicians, bullying, denying resources to those in most need, the haves versus the have-nots and constant war around the globe... I don't think it's too far fetched. I hope you watch the remaining 2 movies in the trilogy. It's a way to understand how things can develop in a society, despite all beliefs to the contrary.

I’m so excited for this! This is a favorite series for me (both books and movies). One thing the movie fails at (imo) is letting the audience understand Haymitch. He has no more choice about being there than Peeta and Katniss do. And he has tremendous ptsd from what he experienced in his own games, but also bc the capitol killed his family and girlfriend to punish him for not playing by their rules. Plus, he has been forced to mentor two kids every year, and watched them die. The movies also fail to convey how strong Peeta is, but also how smart and skilled he is at talking to people. The movies make him look weaker than he does in the books. But still a great series. The second movie of the series is actually my favorite. Hope you do the whole series.

Karl Kraus

No tv show about this This movie, along with its sequels, are based on a book series aimed at teens and young adults Its basically a dystopian harry potter

Andreas

Yes and thanks, that is a good choice. Love from germany 🥰

Brien

There are 5 hunger games movies.

Delia Sewell

One of my favorite series. I read the books before I watched the movies. They did a good job bringing the books to the big screen.

Lady Shar

I cant wait for the next one. Catching Fire is my favorite but I love the whole series, books and movies. Excellent reaction 👌

Mary Merry Berry

I’m so excited that you are doing The Hunger Games!! I hope you enjoy it! It’s such a great movie, full of action and heart! Can’t wait to watch with you! I hope you do the whole series! Plus I rewatched your your You Tube edit of the last two episodes of season 1 of House of the Dragon - SO excited for new episodes next month!!!!

Judy L.

Great reaction! To answer a few of your questions….. the parachutes bring items from their mentor, Haymitch. It’s very expensive to send them, and he worked to secure the money from sponsors to send them in. Pannem is a dystopian, authoritarian country that is founded on the land that used to be the United States. President Snow is a tyrant, and rules by fear. The people in the capitol are the very top of the social ladder. Then district 1, then district 2, etc. So district 12 is the lowest, poorest, most neglected district. People are literally starving to death commonly. Starting at age 12, your name is entered once for the reaping. But you can sign up for rations of food from the government in exchange for putting your name in more times. So the kids from the poorest families have a higher chance of being chosen. That’s why Gail had his name in so many times. He has taken food to feed his younger siblings. And Katniss has taken rations in her name, but refuses to allow Prim to do so. Please do the other 3 movies. They are worth it, and get much more into the politics at play.

Snow did not like the way the game coordinator ended the 74th games. He really wanted a murder/martyr from district 12. Ironically, he "suggested" that the coordinator "resign" by putting him in a locked room with a bowlful of those poisonous berries, the same way the star--crossed lovers would have died had they eaten the berries at the end.

Davey11

Hi Asia and BJ. Will you guys be reacting to Kendrick vs Drake diss tracks over on yalls music channel?

Hey guys I wanted to let you know I turned 30 today and I was hoping to see a shoutout from you in honor of it when you posted today Maybe you can do it on your next post, a belated shoutout? Have a good week!

the raven

Catching fire is my favorite too.

Midgey_M

To answer one of your questions about how Gale's name was in there 42 times. You can get a years worth of rations like basic food staples, oil etc for ONE person if someone who is eligible enters their name. So at 12 you are entered once. At 13 twice etc. So at 18, the age Gale is, your name would be entered 7 times. Due to helping to supply his family with tessera (supplies) He got additonal supplies to feed his family each year. So by my math (i'm horrible at math) each year he signed up for 5 tessera, one for each member of his family. Thats why Katniss when saying goodbye to Prim before the games said don't take any extra food from them, it isn't worth putting your name in more times. And yes Peeta did feed Katniss once. It was after he father had died and her mom checked out mentally for awhile. They were starving to death and that bread was the first food Katniss had had in awhile. It gave her the strength to fight and go out and start hunting, something her father had taught her. Hunting was not allowed in the districts and they were actually leaving the district to hunt but that is how Katniss ensured her family would survive. Last thing those dogs were so much more terrifying in the books because they had the eyes of a fallen tribute. At one point Katniss is chased by a hound with Rue's eyes. It is horrying to think about. Haymitch is understandable when you think about it. He won his games and every year he has to train these kids he knows are going to die. No one from 12 would be able to afford to send gifts so he is really wasting his time trying to get anything. Sponsers generally would not like the poor kids. He has lost himself to sorrow and alcohol. You will find out more about what the captial does to the victors in the subsequent movies so I don't want to spoil anything.

asiaandbj

Heyyyyy!! Happy Belated Birthday Karl!! It’s always good to see another year around the sun! ☺️ Hope you celebrated in style!! Have a great week!

Karl Kraus

thank you guys! Much love to you! I hope to see you post a star wars movie soon! I'll see you in the comments!

asiaandbj

Oohhh!!! Got it! Now I understand because I was so confused when he said 42 but your explanation makes perfect sense! Absolutely will watch the next one. We really enjoyed this movie and I have to go back and rewatch the first one just because it really was that good. Also, now knowing what you just explained it’ll connect the dots better. Thanks for breaking that down! ♥️

asiaandbj

So excited to watch the next one with you guys!

Pink Martini AZ

When Asia said, “a bunch of loonies!” With her facial expression was priceless. Of course I was nodding and saying, “Yep. Exactly.” The books are awesome. The movies do a pretty good job at trying to keep to the books. So glad you watched it as this is one of my favorite series.

Melissa

Oooh I’m glad you guys did this one! Great reaction. 😃

JoMamma_Smurf

Watch the sequels. They are very good. The prequel is garbage.

Daren

I can’t wait for y’all to watch the rest of the Hunger Games movies, including the prequel!

Dan Gonya

H is for Haymitch, their mentor, played by Woody Harrellson. President Snow is Donald Sutherland. You guys would have seen him in A Time to kill. I'm a grown ass man, and I still cry every time when Rue gets got. It was even sadder in the book. Those dog monsters were way creepier in the books too because they were genetically modified to have the eyes of all the other fallen tributes and they look like part human, part dog hybrids. Can't wait to see what you guys think of the next one!

Wendy

So glad you guys watched this. Not sure if anyone else explained but the berries that were in the bowl for Seneca Crane the gamemaker was the poison nightlock berries that Katniss and Peta were going to take to kill themselves at the end of the game. So President Snow was basically telling Seneca to kill himself because he messed up. Thanks again.

Michele G

I didn’t understand everything either the first time I saw it. Luckily my husband had read the books and he was able to answer everything I was confused by. The other movies are really really good !! I actually like them more than the first bc they go into a lot of things you may be confused by during the first !

Hyperion

Alright, we're in for a ride! This film series is amazing. Can't wait! :)

ChinchillaCrystal

The books are phenomenal. When I read the series, one of my kids was Rue’s age. I was horrified by the whole concept of the “games”, as we all were, but having kids in that age group nearly wrecked me. You get so drawn into the characters, you feel you are there with them. The movies did a pretty good job of telling the story. So glad you enjoyed it!

Ashley Santiago

Yes please finish The Hunger Games movie series

Dan Gershgol

I read all three books back to back. Amazing story. It gets better in part 2. Its hard to put in the details from the books in the movies. But overall they did a good job. Please finish the series. Oh and the little girls name is Rue, not Lou or Lily.

Tracy Varner

I’m so excited to watch this with you guys after work. I love the books and all 5 movies and I’ve been wanting to see this reaction for quite some time now.

cernunnos66

Great reaction! The Social Network and Annihilation are both really good movies 🎥 😊🙏🏼

Joan Goodrow

I’m so happy that you two have finally gotten to watch The Hunger Games movies, it’s a great series and does justice to the books. Please don’t wait too long to watch the rest of the series. I haven’t been able to watch your movie picks as my husband of 52+ years died suddenly in February and it is still very raw and it has been a tough road to get to a place where I can watch and enjoy spending time with both of you. Thank you for sharing your views on these movies. Much love and respect to you both ❤️🙏🏻

Todd Williamson

The little girls name is Rue, not Lou, lol

Bonnie Smith

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. 52+ years, what amazing memories you must have together <3 Keeping you in my thoughts through this challenging time.

MichelleMyBell

Hi Joan I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. May God give you and your family strength, faith and courage during these hard times. +Hugs+ 🙏❤️

Ross Johnston

Joan, may God give you peace during this tough and painful road you are going down. May your faith, loved ones and God help you. Asia & BJ bring comfort...a sense of family and belonging. When I'm happy or sad or whatever, watching movies with A&B makes me feel good. It's fun and joyful to watch movies with them. God bless you, Joan! --Ross xoxo xoxo

WickedPizzaPie

Lololol You’re thinking of Squid Games maybe, Asia Also, a banger of a ride

WickedPizzaPie

I am at work and still SEATED Let’s goooooooo

Michele G

I am so sorry Joan!! I know how hard this is and my heart breaks for you. When my dad passed away my mom went through a really really hard time (40 years of marriage). Please be patient with yourself and find at least one person you can talk to. Don’t keep it bottled up. Sending love and prayers your way 💜

Monica W

You guys should finish the entire series!! It's well worth it!

Wendy Garner

So glad you guys started this series. . It's amazing but I wouldn't drag out the time between films too much because they are really good at telling the story and putting in details but they don't continue to retell important details over and over like some movies do. . There is very little excess in these movies, meaning if they bothered to put it into the movie, then it's important! So, if you can, watch the next movie while the previous one is still fresh in your mind, it's the best way to enjoy the.

Wendy Garner

*the best way to enjoy them and catch everything! Can't wait, let's go!

Camping Pups RV

This is the 1st of 4 films. The berries in the bowl at the end was the poisonous ones from the game. the Game master was locked in there to be forced to kill himself, since he let them both live.

Camping Pups RV

The 42 was the number of times their name is in. One per year (so by 18, they would have 7 if not selected yet) and you could get more things you need, like food, goods, etc in exchange for putting your name in more times. So he bartered for a lot of food or other items that brought his entries up to 42

WickedPizzaPie

Side note: Any updates on the next MCU film? Love you both and your content is always ON!

James B.

ive never actually watched this movie from start to finish cause nobody to share it with.. Now i do and have

JennaB

Pretty sure she was thinking of Squid Games

shaneth138

Did you guys watch this at a different speed? It's not lining up with my blu ray copy at all. Is anyone else having trouble syncing up to this?

🖤Bonita☆

Asia has the perfect facial reactions for a reaction channel lol! Part 2 is my personal fave. Can't wait to watch more!

Brina Blue

As soon as as saw this on YouTube, I had to resubscribe a month earlier than I had budgeted for because I had to watch the whole thing! I absolutely can't wait to to see the next movies in the series!

Von

Y'all be missing a lot of key information that's clearly adressed in these movies sometimes. Always entertaining reactions but it's irks me when y'all can't follow the plot and ask lot of questions that the movie already answered.

koppite23

Panem et circuses. Bread and circuses. Their 23rd century is our 21st

Madmadi

I just discovered you content and absolutely loved your reactions. I know it’s been awhile since you’ve watched the first two but you definitely should continue with the last two, it’s so worth it!! ❤️

Adam

I’m sure you know by now but the significance of the outlying districts is the father the number the lower the class. District 1 is right next to the capital and is an upper class district while 12 (where are heroes are from) is the lowest class district and had never had a volunteer. District 1 are almost all “career volunteers” and fight for glory. Never the less, the first one is set up to show the coming setting for the revolution to follow. Catching Fire is great. Books are amazing too and I don’t read fiction normally. The reason you guys were a little confused about Seneca and the berries and why he was nervous about Katniss is because when Pres Snow talks to him about containing her because of her being a spark that “can blow up so contain her” you guys were in conversation about another part. I noticed it while it happened and was wanting you guys to pay attention. Should just pause for a second if you want to talk. Personally, I’d rather that. That is the kind of movie you miss one line and it hurts. Tons of rewatch ability on Hunger Games. Be well.

Adam

Oh yeah on the 42, you know now that you can get rations and other things from the capital by entering your name in the game adding to the fate of prim and her sister who should have had low odds because Katniss could hunt but that skill to protect herself from being entered eventually and literarily ironic, helped her in the Games.

Curlybean🌱

OH MY GOD WHEN PEETA CAME UP OUT THE GROUND AT THE RIVER IM DEAD I AM DECEASED. Thank you for laughing cause back in the day in the theatre I was busting my ass laughing at that and getting hushed.
