Had 5 here around STL Sunday. Four confirmed EF1 and one EF2 with 138 wind damage reports and giant hail. One that went through Greenfield Iowa leveled the town and was confirmed EF4 by the NWS with wind speeds of 175-200mph at points. The year so far has had 1028 tornados, 6056 severe wind, and 3234 damaging hail reports so far. One the most active storm seasons since 2011, luckily this pattern breaks down this week and we get into more of a relaxed pattern for the 1st half of June. I study meteorology and thought I'd share some interesting (to me at least) information. Hope all is well!

That is so scary!! Are you good? Hopefully all that passed you! No that's awesome that you know all that! Tornadoes are scary as hell. I was in one when I was a kid visiting family in Tennessee. Luckily it didn't last long and everyone was okay but I swear the roof was going to rip right off. I don't know how it didn't 😕 But anyways I hope you and your family are okay! So so scary !!

Sundowning is a real thing. And it happens in the elderly when the sun begins to go down (in the evening). A lot are dementia patients. But it can happen with depression as well. Some get agitated, restless & anxious, so they can exhibit some odd behaviors. A lot of time they do have to be sedated at night. Most of them who have sundowners syndrome have already been prescribed meds to calm them each evening. This was a great movie. Wasn’t sure I would make it, but I’m glad I did. lol! 😆

As a nurse I was conflicted when this came out. The director either heard of or witnessed someone sundowning (a real medical condition) and decided it was horror movie material. It really is like sleep walking, a form of dementia that happens to a % of the elderly population (usually nothing scary, just like old people getting lost in their own house at night and upset about it). It can be scary seeming (just like schizophrenia) but also it's kind of a shitty thing to use a medical condition to scare people (making the victims villains) in this movie. The "those aren't your grandparents" line did actually shock me, though. lol
