BRENDA

OHHHHH MY GOSH! This is a wonderful movie for anyone who has not seen it, and it is so fun to watch over again if you have seen it already~~~~-- It is that kind of movie:) I hope you both will love it, as well as the great piano music too! FUN TIME TONIGHT:)

Davey11

More Paul Newman movies please. The Verdict is a classic courtroom movie he stars in

Mikey Sea

Love this one. Robert Shaw from Jaws. Thanks!

Barb Just Barb

When this first came out, I saw it in the theater and then went back to see it five times in a week. So happy to see this pop up here! About to watch it. I would say I hope you enjoyed it but I am sure you did. How could you not? :) Any movie with Newman or Redford is so good. Put them together, and it’s magic.

Renee S

You guys have some good picks this last couple days. Too bad it's a work night. I have to hit the sack, but I will definitely be back tomorrow afternoon for this one :)

Randy Ripley

Thank you so much for this classic. This timeless gem is based on a conman named "Yellow Kid" Weil.

Jason Ragan

Yes finally!!! I can’t wait to watch you watch this!

BRENDA

In case you haven't figure this out already,.....The lady (*from the dinner) that was going to get Hooker, was after him for the ORIGINAL CON IN THE BEGINNING of the movie..Doyle Lonnegan didn't know that Robert Redford's character was the SAME GUY as the one with Henry at the last con.

BRENDA

*When you wondered what Lonnegan would do when he saw Hooker (Redford) ALIVE at the end con...Lonnegan didn't know Redford was the same guy from the first con in the movie (so Lonnegan never questioned it).

Deborah Lewis

Two best actors from our day...Paul Newman and Robert Redford=priceless🥰

Tara ✨💫

Robert Redford and Paul Newman were two of the biggest movie stars from the 60’s and 70’s and were in a few movies together. Robert Redford, the younger blond actor was similar to this generation’s Brad Pitt. If you like this and Ocean’s 11, you’d like the TV show Leverage. Each episode, a crew of con men/women with their own specialty plan a con to bring down bad guys. It’s a lot of fun.

Deep Dives

Never seen this, always knew about it, it deserve its classic status, I enjoyed it and your reaction.

Deep Dives

And speaking of high stakes poker, please react to Casino Royale 2006 , a great movie! You can't do Jason Bourne movie's and not a James Bond one!

Debbie Green

Sons of Anarchy tonight! So excited! Y’all are going to love it!!!

Kevin

Carol Rocha

I think you may have seen some of these folks in gangster movies. ?

sharkey197

I must admit I got a kick out of of Asia's reaction to the old fashioned phone. Yes, that's what they used to look like. I love watching people watch this movie. The writing is so good, the plot of well constructed it's a joy to revisit. This and Rosemary's Baby made my weekend. I hope you continue to do a number of older films since I'm sure you would enjoy they. You are both so discerning and appreciative of them it's a joy to watch with you.

Carol Rocha

Really great movie!! 🍿

JL Green

This film represents why I love movies!

JL Green

BTW, The older Black con man was James Earl Jones father. Also the main protagonist Lonigan also played Quint in the movie "Jaws." Last thing, although Marvin Hamlish won an Academy Award for the score he adapted the music from the Black composer Scott Joplin who hails from my city Baltimore, Maryland 😃!

Jesse

One of the greatest con man movies ever yo. Redford and Newman made this movie a true classic. Thanks ☮️💙🃏🃏🃏🃏

JL Green

One more thing, Robert Shaw (Lonnegan) actually hurt his leg just before shooting began so that wasn't him acting like his limping was a prop, he really hurt himself.

Karim

I wonder if this movie inspired the Ocean movies?

Matthew Folz

I've seen this movie 20 times and I NEVER knew that was James Earl Jones' father. Cool bit of trivia man.

Matthew Folz

Here's a second vote for the Verdict.

Matthew Folz

And I recommend Pitt/Redford together in Spy Game. Such an awesome movie

JL Green

Thank you for your positive response 👍🏾

Dan Gonya

Came here to comment about Luther being James Earl Jones' father. that voice is almost unmistakable.

JL Green

Interesting, you noticed that too!

Dan Gershgol

A classic movie. Shocked you don't know who Robert Redford is. The Brad Pitt of his time. Need to watch The way we were and the original version of The Great Gatsby. 5 dollars in the 1930s is a little over 100 dollars today, 100 dollars in 1930s is 2200 dollars today and 1000 dollars in 1930s is 22000 today.

Jennifer

Also Lt. Snyder, the crooked cop, is played by Charles Durning...Governor Pappy O'Daniel from "O, Brother Where Art Thou?". And the actress who played Luther's wife was also Mrs. Riley from "My Cousin Vinny", the old lady with the thick glasses.

Pop_Pop_Taq

Never seen this but what a great movie!! Yall got me up to damn late again with these classic bangers rolling out.

KimM

How wonderful to sit down and watch this great movie with you. Happy you had the chance to see it. Paul Newman and Robert Redford were in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, another great pairing making movie history. I think you would enjoy seeing Newman in "Cool Hand Luke" 1967 where he plays a man sentenced to two years in a rural prison, but refuses to conform. Other great movies he is in are "The Verdict", "Slap Shot". Also played a mob boss in Road to Perdition (2002) opposite Tom Hanks, Jude Law, and Stanley Tucci. Then there is Robert Redford...wonderful leading man...be sure to google his filmography and you'll see his wealth of great movies.
