Melissa

OMG. This is happening. OMG. So excited right now.

Sapporo Dragon

Finally! I have to drop what I’m doing and watch this right now!🛫😁👍🏻 oh and I just watched it last night.🤦🏻‍♂️

Debbie Green

Wow! I can’t believe you guys did this one! Excellent choice!!!

Rebecca Karsner

This is gonna be an awesome reaction!! Can't wait to watch!!

Jesse McAdams

There were movies that put him on the map before Top Gun.

Joshua Coe

My favorite of his is Minority Report.

Sapporo Dragon

So Tom Cruise’s first breakout movie was Taps (1981). That is a definite must watch from back in the day.🫡🇺🇸

pkleo73

Funny I just watched the original last night lol and I'm about to watch this one! 😎🤘

Sapporo Dragon

When Maverick took off in the dark star, he flew from California to Nevada, where he crashed landed.

David Croft-Ogawa

Risky Business was one of his earlier, successful films that he starred in.

dedknedy

Love this movie! The first was good but this movie is just all around badass.

Monica F Vieyra-Sandgren

Picture of Goose "Who's that guy?" "I don't remember" KNIFE IN THE HEART MAN! 😳🥺🔪💔

Melissa

The scene where Phoenix’s plane crashes is too real. My brother’s F-16 crashed in 2016 (he ejected) and this scene scares the crap out of me every time.

Donna Bannister

Ooohh niceeee!!! Can't wait to watch after work👍🔥❤️🔥 FYI... the volleyball scene from the first Top Gun was reallyyy niceee to watch BJ!!!😘👀😂😂

Stephen Blair

Mach 10 is 10 times the speed of sound

Amy Silknitter

I swear every woman gets that same look on our faces when Miles Teller does his little dance. :)

Sapporo Dragon

If you guys want to see some original F-14 action, check out the movie The Final Countdown (1980)!🛫

Joan Goodrow

You two are the BEST! FYI the plane Tom Cruise was flying at the end is his and he and Jennifer Connelly were flying while they filmed them during the ending credits. BJ you were right it was Lady GaGa who sang the song as Tom Cruise asked her to write a song for the film and if you want to see her Oscar performance of the song it was amazing! Great film loved your reactions especially you Asia you’re so sweet and funny ❤️🙋‍♀️

Jesse McAdams

The term 5th generation is the technology of the aircraft. If you want a young movie with him in it try Legend (1985). It also has Tim Curry who played Pennywise in the original It and Mia Sara who was Sloan in Ferris Bueller's Day Off (his girlfriend) that you just watched. Think about starting the Mission Impossible franchise. He does all his own stunts and they get insane as the franchise goes on.

Will Hoppe

Val Kilmer had throat cancer in real life that damaged his vocal cords. He is virtually unable to speak

Joan Goodrow

Tom Cruise has been in numerous movies Rain Man, The Firm, Mission Impossible movies, The Color of Money, Last Samurai, Jerry Maguire the list is long and many of the stars who worked on the different films were Dustin Hoffman, Paul Newman, and the list goes on. He is also known to do most of his own stunts. 👏

Sapporo Dragon

The studio had to get special permission from the insurance company to allow Jennifer Connolly to fly with Tom Cruise in his personal P 51 Mustang at the end of the movie.

Sapporo Dragon

Ok guys, that was fun. Thank you! Be sure to check out Jennifer Connelly in Only the Brave (2017)🔥

rtt143

Cruise did all his own flying

JoMamma_Smurf

You really should have re-watched the first one. You missed SOOOO much!

rtt143

Please consider Jerry McGuire

Davey11

Please for the love of god Asia & Bj 🙏. Please do the Mission Impossible movie series. the first one is a tense action thriller and my personal favorite. The second one is the worst of the series (still not a bad though) but from Mission Impossible 3 onwards, every installment is a complete action adventure thrill ride from start to finish, a little humour and romance too. Unlike most movie series it really does get better and better with each new installment. Tom Cruise doing the craziest stunts, risking his life for our entertainment. He's a crazy mofo.

Bonnie Smith

I GASPED when I saw this uploaded. LOL The sound of a fighter jet is just something else, man. Excites every cell in the body. If you ever visit California, check out the Pacific Air Show in Huntington Beach. So so good. Also just so much history in these machines.

dedknedy

Hats off to Val Kilmer. (Ice Man) That guy had a long battle with throat cancer which is why he couldn't really talk in this movie. Tom Cruise being a total class act said he wouldn't do the movie without Val. Mav needs his wingman. Ride or die.

Erick

The 5th generation fighter was the superior plane! Not a reference to the pilots being more seasoned.

William Rice

Definitely check out the making of this. Unlike the first one they had full support of the Navy. Also that’s Tom Cruise’s personal P-51 mustang with him flying her for real at the end.

Stephen Blair

FYI the old f14 they flew out of the enemy base is the same jets they flew in the first movie. Also its fifth generation jets, the latest technological generation. The f18s are fourth generation (f14s were early 4th gen) and would be at a huge disadvantage to the modern technology of fifth generation fighters, ie targeting, speed, maneuverability.

Dan Gonya

Mach 10 is 7000 miles per hour.

Just Me Chris

yeah, I think they forgot a lot. I re-watched their Top Gun reaction earlier today just to watch this.

Stefan Williams

awesome reaction! ive been watching your Youtube for a while, now i think it was time i switched to your patreon due to how fun you guys are. please dont forget to react to Furiosa (2024). the prequel to Mad Max Fury Road (2015), the movie you watched a few days/week ago. You will have a blast continuing to watch a future apocalyptic version of my country hahaha you guys are so much fun! take care guys! much love from Australia.

Brad Beach

5th Generation Fighter refers to the planes. They are the latest, most advanced Fighter jets. It does NOT have anything to do with the pilots experience. And 5th generation fighters are INSANELY advanced. The Tomcat they stole is the type of planes they flee in the original Top Gun, in the 80's, to give you an idea of the technological differences.

Brad Beach

Thank you to your brother for his service, and to your family as well!

pkleo73

Yea i was going to mention that as well. It's an f35 5th Gen aircraft, and the pilots may not be seasoned as she said also. But they could be very familiar with that aircraft. Even out of the academy they're more deadly than any fully trained pilot on an f-18. And I'm thinking also, that they say the pilots who are doing this mission were just at the academy, but so is Cruz and Top Gun. It's like they just wound up here by chance but they were still regardless the best in their class. Which also made me wonder why rooster was surprised he was there and didn't think he could do it.

Brad Beach

Days of Thunder is another excellent Tom Cruise movie. (Hint hint😉)

pkleo73

Oh man. U werent the only one. Lol. I was like, wait, have you not watched the last 5 minutes?! Lol

pkleo73

I didn't know how far he went until just now. That must have been one of the shortest trips ever lol

Brian M.

The American pilots were not rookies, they were all graduates of the top gun academy, the best pilots the navy has to offer.

Darth Brooks

Asia: "Tom Cruise still looks young for it being 30 years" Me: The realization that Jim Carrey, Brad Pitt, George Clooney, Tom Cruise etc are all in their 60s (Ace Ventura came out 5 years ago right? /s) lol.

Michael Keefer

You two should check out the mission impossible series if you havent already. Part 2 of the 7th film is coming out mid 2025. Other than part 2 they're all great and the stunts cruise does are unbelievable and spectacular. You won't regret checking them out. I've been following your channel for a long time I know you'd dig the mission impossible series

Jason Cooper

FYI "5th generation" were referring to the actual jets not the pilots..... Meaning they're the most advanced fighter jets to date.....

Donna Bannister

Awesome reaction Asia & BJ💯👏💯 Loved the fast paced action of this movie!! I felt like I was riding a roller-coaster for a wee minute🫣😂 This was niceeeee!!!! TY❤️❤️

Pink Martini AZ

Oh my gosh, watching this with you was so awesome. Your love and excitement had shown through just like all the rest of us when we first saw it. I felt it all over again. Tom Cruise put a lot of tender loving care into this sequel and really wanted it to be true to the original and the fans. He wanted it authentic with the jets, the flying, the story and more. He did good. I’m so glad you loved this.

Dan Gonya

Yeah, I'm gonna go ahead and take a hard pass on sailing too. No thank you.

Donna Bannister

My partner has been a sailor for many years now, and he keeps trying to get me to go sailing ⛵️ with him.. on those yachts that look like they gonna fall over👀😳 NEVER!!! was my answer back then.. and it's still the same today😂😂

Robert Durant

As soon as I saw this pop up on my feed it was an instant click to watch. This was how you do a sequel the right way.

KimM

Asia: "Is this the song??" Why yes, yes it is.....gets the blood moving as you head to the danger zone. Yes, BJ, it is the same song played in the original Top Gun movie. Sometimes I binge watch both movies now, so damn good! Tom Cruise still looking good after 36 years have passed, damn!!! Some of the real life footage always astounds me showing what our military accomplishes which can be so easily taken for granted. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this movie with you...wonderful reaction!!

Chris Smith

Awesome reaction you guys this movie was amazing theres this 80's movie that my dad and i always enjoyed watching its called iron eagle

cammygram1

Best sequel movie ever!

RollingAcres47

I love that old P-51 Mustang that Maverick is flying at the end. That plane is one of the many reasons we won WWII. It had enough range to escort bombers to Germany and back to Britain.

Joshua Coe

Oh, and did I forget Collateral?? Such an incredible film!

Rebecca Karsner

I love Collateral!! Such a great film. Tom Cruise is something else in that!! Now I'm gonna be singing Black Hole Sun the rest of the night! Lolol 😄😄

Popcorn & Petty

Tom Cruise is always running somewhere in every movie even the one where he was in the wheelchair. 😂😂😂

HipCat57

the outlaw Jose wales

Amy Silknitter

5 of the 6 actors threw up every day they did the plane work. They didn't fly, obviously, but they had to touch up their own makeup and stuff between takes because it would have cost to much to constantly be taking off and landing. They did take after take at a time and just stayed up in the air. To be clear, Tom Cruise did not do his own fighter jet flying. But that was his plane and him flying at the end.

Josh

Mach 1 means the speed of sound, which is 767mph. Mach 10 would be 10 times that speed... so Maverick was going 7,672 mph in the opening scene

Josh

I've seen many great films in the theaters over the years... legendary films, like: Jurassic Park, The Matrix, Titanic, Saving Private Ryan, Lord of the Rings trilogy, Gladiator, Batman-Dark Knight, Avatar, Mad Max-Fury Road, Dune 2, and many more I can't think of off the top of my head... "Top Gun - Maverick" is 1 I'm gonna regret not seeing on the big screen... I already do

Josh

When I say Avatar I mean the movie experience more than the actual movie. The movie was good I thought , but the visuals on Imax is was what made it insane

Stan Ross

thank you ...this was a ride!!!! awesome!!!! might be the best sequel

SixEight Guy

GREAT FREAKING FILM! A couple things: - 5th Generation Fighters refers to the plane itself and not the pilot. - The plane that Maverick and the other pilots are flying is the F/A 18F Super Hornet. - The 5th Generation jet used by the enemy is the F-35 Lightning II - The plane that Mav and Rooster steal at the end is the F14 Tomcat. This is the plane that Mav and Goose flew in the original Top Gun. - The younger pilots aren't all "just out of flight school". They're all graduates of Top Gun and have been deployed and have all seen action. Top Gun isn't for new pilots. It's for the best of the best. - At the beginning of the original Top Gun, Maverick gets in trouble for fooling around with an admiral's daughter, Penny Benjamin. He gets yelled at about it. That's who Penny in this movie is. She's a call back to the original movie and a character we heard about but never got to see.

Brandon Fife

So glad you finally watched this movie. I've been wanting you to watch it for a while now. It's so good

LynnC

The museum piece is the type of jet Maverick flew in Top Gun 30 years ago.

Dan Gershgol

This was a big surprise. Wasn't expecting this movie to be better than the first.

Sean G

Excellent reaction!

Saints_Madness

Good reaction to this movie. I regretted not seeing this in theaters because apparently they had screens on the sides, making it a cockpit view. Huh, I wonder if they have that version available for the Oculus Quest 3. I'm going to look into that

Raider Ron

Never get tired of watching this movie.

Chloe

Keep a look out at your local theatre. Sometimes they do “throwback” screenings for popular movies. It’s usually only one or two nights. But Regal recently showed The Lord of the rings trilogy, one movie each night at 7pm.

fire12wife

The younger pilots were not new pilots. They were all certified as pilots years prior, then were all hand-picked to go to Top Gun for training as the best of the best. They had all then graduated and were working in their squadrons when they were called to do the mission. They were not new or inexperienced. They were picked to do this mission because they were the top pilots out of all of the Top Gun graduates! They're the best fighter pilots on the planet! They just didn't have the experience that Maverick had... partly because he was a pilot longer, and also because of technology. Maverick said the younger pilots were used to dropping bombs from a higher altitude and had less experience in dogfighting than he did. That's why Iceman wanted Maverick to train them... especially Rooster. I think Iceman feels guilty because HE was the reason Goose died. If Iceman hadn't cut Maverick off so that he could get Viper, not Maverick. Iceman stayed in the way even when he couldn't get the shot. That's what caused the engines in Maverick's jet to stall and induced the flat spin that ultimately took Goose's life. Penny was a character from the first movie. She was mentioned in the beginning "Penny Benjamin" when Maverick was getting chewed out and then told he was going to Top Gun. The 2nd time she was mentioned was in the bb-q restaurant with Maverick, Charlotte "Charlie" Blackwood (Maverick's lover), along with Goose, his wife Carole, and their son Bradley. Carole said "Goose goes home early for church and Maverick always goes home with the hot women! Goose told me all about the time you went ballistic with Penny Benjamin!" Maverick knew her before he ever met Charlie. He was on and off with Penny in the 36 years between Top Gun (1986) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022)!

fire12wife

The F/A 18F jets are the 2 seater jets that Pheonix & Bob, Payback & Fanboy, and Yale & Harvard flew. The F/A 18E is the single-seater that Maverick, Rooster, Coyote, and Hangman flew.

Cynthia M Farrington

The actor who played Ice Man, Val Kilmer, actually had throat cancer and wanted to reprise his role so they wrote it into the script. He really can’t speak.

Silly Uncle Andy Farmer

oh wow i hope it is also available on Oculus Quest 2, i must check. thanks mate

Aaron Barlow

He didn't, he was a passenger

Aaron Barlow

Right up there with Terminator 2.

Aaron Barlow

This movie singlehandedly restored people's faith in Hollywood, at least for a while. When writers focus on great characters and story with traditional hero archetypes that people relate to then the movie is successful. Movies that prioritise woke messaging always fail.

Aaron Barlow

Of course the 'enemy' would not in reality have superior planes. The US always has the best military tech.
