Well ya’ll need to come for a Visit! We can take photos at the Hollywood Sign, high end shopping in Beverly Hills, rooftop Burgers, and an afternoon at the Beach!

JL Green

Oh yeah 😎 I am pleasantly surprised with your choice. I'm excited to watch your reactions.

Rebecca Karsner

Classic cinema right here!! Gonna watch in a bit while I battle my cold 🤒😭 Great pick ultimate VIP! 😁

astrobuckshot

Gloria Swanson playing Norma Desmond is incredible in this. She was a real life silent film actress just like her character. You can see the overly expressive character in her face, reminiscent of how silent film actors acted. Looking forward to this 👍

Dan Gershgol

I have seen the play but did not know there was a movie. Will watch tonight.

Darth Brooks

Hope you're on the mend and starting to feel better. Getcha some chicken soup, orange juice, and rest, get well soon!

Dana

OMG Thank you VIP for this amazing classic! One of my favorite B/W films. I'm stoked for this. :)

Jay Rivera

Impeccable taste on this. This is what we talk about when we say “Film” but not just a flick. 🤙🏼

Jay Rivera

I’m dying for more classics.

Jay Rivera

“Once Upon A Time In America” European cut next please!!! 🙏🏼 . Basically just the longest one. Sergio Leone

Dana

Indeed. What Ever Happened To Baby Jane? would be amazeballs. :)

KimM

"This is how people go missing"...BJ, that made me laugh! Ohhhh Noooo, she is not the wicked witch of the west actress. The woman in this movie is the legendary actress Gloria Swanson. She was in dozens of silent-films. Silent-film actors emphasized body language and facial expression so that the audience could better understand what an actor was feeling and portraying on screen. This film was a box office smash and earned her a third Academy Award nomination as Best Actress and she also won a Golden Globes for this film. It is reported she earned $50,000 for her role in this movie way back then!! I recall reading that her performance as the delusional silent star Norma Desmond in this film so impressed movie audiences that she said she spent the rest of her life having to remind the public, "I'm not Norma Desmond, I merely played her onscreen!" In her personal life, she was also known for her extravagant lifestyle and antics. She was married and divorced 6 times....wowza! Truly enjoyed watching this classic with you!

KimM

Oh for sure, they need to watch that film and also Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte...two great psychological thrillers with Bette Davis.

Dana

Kim, Yes! Throw in All About Eve for the triple play!

Stefan Williams

you guys post WAYYYY more then a lot of other Patreons. Its awesome! nearly something to watch every single day! great patreon great value you both and 'Mr. Video' are the best reaction patreons hands down! take care much love

Tek

This movie is a classic example of my favorite genre, film noir, characterized by themes of alienation, despair, violence, anti-heroes, and moral ambiguity. Modern films like “Taxi Driver” and “Joker” (2019) are considered neo-noir, an evolution of the genre. Another must-see noir classic is “Double Indemnity” (1944), directed by Billy Wilder, the same director as “Sunset Boulevard".

CD

Me too! How to marry a millionaire and to catch a thief!

CD

Oooh very excited to watch this- look forward to seeing more classics! “How to marry a millionaire” and “to catch a thief” by Hitchcock are amazing!

CD

asia you are thinking of rodeo drive :-) not hollywood boulevard at the beginning :-)

Joshua Coe

Glad to be back, missed being here.

OMG, I just saw that y’all posted Sunset Blvd. I love this movie, I’ve seen it about 10 times and I’m gonna watch it with y’all now. Let’s do this…

Michele G

Robin Williams did an impression of her in Mrs Doubtfire !!! All these years I never knew where it came from !!! This was a great movie !! Thanks to whoever suggested it !!! “I’m ready for my closeup Mr Demill” lol I’m way too excited about finding this out 😂😂

Michele G

I’m subbed to his YouTube but not his Patreon. I was worried it would make me sync my own copy of the movie. Does he put his movies on screen or do I need my own ?

Isaac

He puts the full movie on the screen like Asia and BJ do

David Croft-Ogawa

Thank you, VIP, for this excellent suggestion. I’m one of the older family members, and Andrew Lloyd Weber wrote a gorgeous musical Broadway show by the same name. I was fortunate enough to see the Norma Desmond character played by Glenn Close, Betty Buckley in NYC and Elaine Paige in the West End in London. I hope you guys get a chance to see the show some day.

Michele G

Thanks yall !! I have been reluctant to sign up bc I didn’t know. Asia & BJ’s Patreon was the first ever and they have spoiled me 😂 I’m a member of another one and their uploads are no where near what A&B put up.

Kevin

Watch “I Love You Man”

Michele G

That movie is so funny !!!!

captkeebz

Never seen this but glad I watched it. Great acting from Swanson. Now I know where that line comes from: "I'm ready for my close up Mr. DeMille."

Trish Belshe

Let me tell you what…”A streetcar named Desire” with the beautiful young Marlon Brando and Vivian Leigh. One of the best movies ever. Such a great study of how characters begin and grow with all their idipsycncratic tendencies. And always “Gone with the Wind”. It’s a 4 hour movie so it needs to be divided into 2 parts. But everyone should see this movie at least once. Vivian Leigh and the great Clark Gable, what great actors

Trish Belshe

@ Michele G. Carol Burnette does the funniest Norma Desmond and Harvey Korman as Max. They’ve done several shows with them playing those characters. So damn funny. BTW, it’s on the Carol Burnet Show that ran for years in the 70’s.

Michele G

I’ll have to check that out ! I used to watch reruns of that show all the time when I was little ! So freakin funny !!!
