depends on the genre. for Christmas it is Its A Wonderful Life, for July 4th its Independence Day, for 80s its Stand By Me, for 90s its Dead Poets Society , for Civil War type its Dances With Wolves. When we just want to get lost for a couple days it the Lord Of the Rings extended edition trilogy. For comedy its Last Vegas. We are a movie loving house.

For Christmas it's Eight Crazy Nights (Adam Sandler animated movie), but for anytime of year it's either Over The Hedge, Monster Squad or Explorers.

Darth Brooks

Never really had the let's get snacks and the family gather round to watch a movie as a kid. But the ones we did traditionally on holidays were Hook around the Thanksgiving time and A Christmas Story for well, Christmas. My dad and I also watched the Friday trilogy quite a bit as they came out but that doesn't really qualify for holidays except maybe the 3rd one lol.

Very dated, especially if you can find the original version but an excellent choice! Must be followed up with the original White Christmas.

Lee Stephenson

Christmas related?? Hands Down is A Christmas Story that one just never gets old for us. Not Christmas and just a good movie for the whole Family?? Uncle Buck never disappoints!!

Carolee Barry

I still say this is most well made movie ever, even after all these years. Lighting, locations, character arc, chemistry, direction of Bob Wise...it's a masterpiece. Dame Julie Andrews had a voice even angels would envy and the subtext between her and the Captain as she realized her true destiny was superb acting.

Renee S

You can do schlocky family Christmas stuff for sure, but never forget the holiday slashers like the OG Black Christmas from 1974 and Silent Night, Deadly Night from 1984!

Andrew Mann

Harry and the Hendersons

I always love watching “Krampus” and the fun thing is your gonna get the horror aspect also so it’s just all around fun. You can try the last Tarantino movie you got which takes place during winter, “The Hateful Eight” (like reservoir dogs in a barn).Thinking you could also do Spielberg like “Jurassic Park, catch me if you can”. Finally to boot just for kicks the mister Roger’s movie with Tom Hanks… come on now. “ Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood” will leave you fuzzy. Oooh also “Eyes wife shut” has a scene where Tom cruises walks by Christmas lights so it counts. Who’s with me?

Jay Rivera

Eight crazy nights 🕎

Jay Rivera

Dying for this one to be done

Stacey

Some of these aren't the typical "family" rated holiday movies... but I guess it depends on the family. My family never really paid attention to age appropriate ratings, but we didn't have "cable TV" so most of what I saw when I was younger was edited for primetime TV. It wasn't until I rewatched shows/movies later as an adult that I realized how much of it was censored.

Nicole

No one said Die Hard yet??? Haha. All may favs are pretty much ones I think you have reacted to or most have already mentioned. The Family Stone, The Ref (I love this one), Scrooged, Gremlins, Family Man, Jack Frost, Prancer, Bridgett Jones Diary, and long before Elf there was Santa Claus the Movie starring Dudley Moore.
