WE BACK TO IT

💕💕

No, actually Michael didn't want to stay alone in the car with the coach. If you look closely, he's not comfortable when the coach touches his shoulder and he asked if Justin (the other boy who boxes) was also going to the match so he wouldn't have to go alone with the coach. This gives us an idea of the trauma he may have experienced.

Ohhhhh!! I noticed that but I didn’t think much of it… I thought he might have been a little embarrassed about where he stayed.. but I understand now!

Yes, Leon!! Everyday for you guys! Thanks for being here!

I thought so too, but looking at all the signs, which are quite subtle, these are the signs of an abused child. You can see that he is really uncomfortable and scared around grown men and as soon as his friend gets out of the car. This information can help you understand his character in the other episodes if you haven't watched them yet.

"How you expect to run with the wolves come night, when you spend all day sparring with the puppies?" — Omar Devone Little Translation: It was neither Barksdale nor Marlo, let alone anyone else at all who may have really mattered or meant something within the so-called "game". Rather, that was just some random, ineffectual, inconsequential, unknown nobody (so to speak) who had tossed those vials of dope out the window. Thus, at least through the perspective / perception of Omar, this rendered his unintended and effortless score essentially meaningless to him.

Regarding the theme song, the quoted portion below is an excerpt which I had already shared way back when in a previous post, but I believe it is worthy of a refreshing reminder: " 'Way Down in the Hole' is a song written by the singer-songwriter Tom Waits. It was included on his 1987 album 'Franks Wild Years' . . . The song was used as the theme for HBO's 'The Wire'. A different recording was used each season. Versions, in series order, were recorded by The Blind Boys of Alabama, Tom Waits, The Neville Brothers, DoMaJe, and Steve Earle. Season four's version, performed by the Baltimore teenagers Ivan Ashford, Markel Steele, Cameron Brown, Tariq Al-Sabir and Avery Bargasse, was arranged and recorded specifically for the show . . . " So, while it may sound like a female singer or few, this season's version of the theme song was actually performed by a handful of young teenage boys from B'more aka DoMaJe. This choice was quite an appropriate & aptly fitting decision, especially considering that one of the prominent topics covered this season is that of the school system & its effects on teenage students attending middle school. One more note, which I also already mentioned before: Next season, the theme is another cover version done by country/rock/folk singer-songwriter Steve Earle, who plays the character Walon in the show. We have not seen Walon for a while (we will again eventually), but if y'all recall, he is the scruffy-bearded former addict & drug rehabilitation counselor who is also Bubbles' Narcotics Anonymous sponsor.

yeah they shoulda just let em figure it out on their own. they would know eventually no question. i get people are excited but the best part of watching the wire is putting the pieces together. telling them outright kinda robs the viewer of the experience

Through my countless watches of this show I've realized that scene at the beginning of ep 3 with the security guard is the stark difference between Avon/Marlo. Look back at Avon's scene at the basketball gm in S1, he's mad at the game but he's basically offended the ref wouldn't speak up for himself. Avon's into honor, rules of the game etc. Marlo on the other hand, was offended the security guy dared to speak up. He sees himself as above the rules of the game

Great reaction and I'd vote for Asia if she ran for office

Why Not Let THEM Experience & React As They Progress Through The Show? Talking About ANYTHING That They Have NOT YET Seen Can Border The Spoiler Territory.

When We Meet Avon and Stringer They Are in Their 30s and are ALREADY Established. Unlike Marlo who is in his early 20s and is still in the process of establishing himself post Barksdale and Bell era in the SAME territory once ruled by B and B just a year ago. Avon didn't want the ref to speak up for himself. Avon was daring the ref to talk back. For all we know, part of the reason that Avon is so feared in the streets on Season 1 is because like Marlo, Avon did his share of doing exactly what Marlo did to the security guard who got himself killed by trying to be a tough guy over 2 lollipop suckers. #TellemTANKseddit

I might agree if Marlo had done this in S3 when he's fighting for the crown . But in S4 he already has it, he's the unquestioned top dog on the west side. By now, everybody know what type of time he's on. He's got no reason to be flexing his power other than him feeling like it.
